Polyamide Fabric

Instead of monomers, polymers in solution can be grafted on Nylon structures. Aqueous solution of poly(acrylic add) is used for impregnation of polyamide fabrics which is subsequently dried during 1 to 5hrs at 80-150° C after which cure is carried out for 15 to 60 min at 150-218° C (99). A copolymer of styrene-maleic anhydride is said to be grafted on polycaprolactam by heating at 230° C at a pressure of 25 kg/cm2 (100). [Pg.102]

Positive and negative ions neutralize charges on the polyamide fabric and the carl n core, thus dissipating the static electricity. KAURIT W is recommended for the anticrease and antishrink finishing of spun rayons and cotton cloth, and for the fixation of filling and stiffening agents on wool and other fibrous materials. The product imparts a woolly, full and resilient handle to spun rayons. On polyamide fabrics it produces a good stiff handle, such as is required for polyamide-rayon lace and polyamide tulle. [Pg.80]

FIXAPRET BU imparts a full handle to the goods. On polyamide fabrics it produces stiff finishes. [Pg.86]

Hypotheses were set to investigate whether dyed photochromic polyamides had properties of both a UV sensor and a shielding material against solar irradiance. To test the hypotheses, knitted polyamide fabric was dyed with the following dyes ... [Pg.29]

Then, the second hypothesis, that the polyamide fabric dyed with two photochromic dyes was indeed a sensor/detector and as such a passively smart textile, was tested. Following the method described in Section 2.3.2., the spectrophotometric measurement of the fabrics was done before and after submitting to UV. The CIELAB graphs shown in Figures 2.9 and 2.10 contribute to proving that the photochromic response was gained from polyamide fabrics dyed with just 0.1 g/L of the two dyes used. [Pg.31]

Liu and Hu have reviewed the incorporation of PNIPAAm into textiles to fabricate thermal-responsive hygroscopic fabrics, environmentally sensitive deodorant fibres and stimuli-sensitive nutrient delivery fabrics. StimuU-responsive hydrogels can be grafted on the surface of cellulose, polypropylene, polyester and polyamide fabrics using different techniques. [Pg.441]

Viton /Butyl recommendations are from tests of a Viton /Butyl laminate coated on polyester or polyamide fabrics mainly. Respirex and Ansell manufacture Viton /Butyl suits. Respirex uses two layers of Viton and one layer of Butyl in the Viton /Butyl laminate suits. Treiieborg uses two layers of Butyl and one layer of Viton in the Viton /Butyl laminate suits. Some of the recommendations are based on the Ansell and Trellchem Viton /Butyl gloves. [Pg.130]

Silicone rubber is well known for its chemical resistance and for its high and low temperature capability. These features have been recognised more recently by certain bus and truck operators who have replaced conventional organic rubber coolant hoses by silicone. A study" into the benefits of silicone hose on the Detroit Street Railway buses resulted in the changeover to silicone hose as far back as 1970. Although not widely used on cars as yet, silicone coolant hose, usually reinforced with polyester or polyamide fabrics, is well accepted for bigger vehicles, particularly those such as buses and trucks where off the road time is expensive and frustrating. Thermostat by-pass hoses are available in the USA made from silicone rubber reinforced with nylon. [Pg.228]
