Many of the listed functions/properties of liposomes, such as longevity, targetability, stimuli-sensitivity, ability to deliver drugs intracellularly, etc. could, theoretically, be combined in a single preparation yielding a so-called multifunctional liposomal nanocarrier (155) (see Fig. 1).
