Platinum immobilization

Szollosi, G., Mastalir, A., Bartok, M. (2001) Effect of ion exchange by an organic cation on platinum immobilization on clays. React. Kinet. Catal. Lett. 74, 241-249. [Pg.253]

The most spectacular results, in terms of comparison between CFPs- and carbon-supported metal catalysts, were likely provided by Toshima and co-workers [33,34]. As illustrated in Section 3.3.3, they were able to produce platinum and rhodium catalysts by the covalent immobilization of pre-formed, stabilized metal nanoclusters into an amine functionalized acrylamide gel (Scheme 5). To this purpose, the metal nanopartides were stabilized by a linear co-polymer of MMA and VPYR. The reaction between its ester functions and the amine groups of the gel produced the covalent link between the support and the... [Pg.224]

Systems that contain the photocatalyst as a suspended powder or colloid are not convenient in continuous flow or circulation arrangements in which the photoactive system is held in place and can readily be removed for regeneration. CdS can be produced or immobilized in a Nafion membrane together with finely dispersed platinum... [Pg.136]

Conductometric transducers, as the oldest electrochemical devices, seem not to enjoy wide applications due to their poor selectivity. For example, Yagiuda et al. proposed a conductometric immunosensor for the determination of methamphetamine (MA) in urine [89], The decrease in the conductivity between a pair of platinum electrodes might result from the direct attachment of MA onto the anti-MA antibodies immobilized on the electrode surface. The system was claimed to be a useful detection technique of MA in comparison with a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method. [Pg.267]

Application of transition metal hexacyanoferrates for development of biosensors was first announced by our group in 1994 [118]. The goal was to substitute platinum as the most commonly used hydrogen peroxide transducer for Prussian blue-modified electrode. The enzyme glucose oxidase was immobilized on the top of the transducer in the polymer (Nation) membrane. The resulting biosensor showed advantageous characteristics of both sensitivity and selectivity in the presence of commonly tested reductants, such as ascorbate and paracetamol. [Pg.449]

CNTs offer an exciting possibility for developing ultrasensitive electrochemical biosensors because of their unique electrical properties and biocompatible nanostructures. Luong et al. have fabricated a glucose biosensor based on the immobilization of GOx on CNTs solubilized in 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES). The as-prepared CNT-based biosensor using a carbon fiber has achieved a picoamperometric response current with the response time of less than 5 s and a detection limit of 5-10 pM [109], When Nation is used to solubilize CNTs and combine with platinum nanoparticles, it displays strong interactions with Pt nanoparticles to form a network that connects Pt nanoparticles to the electrode surface. The Pt-CNT nanohybrid-based glucose biosensor... [Pg.502]

Ikariyama [2] described a unique method for the preparation of a glucose oxidase (GOD) electrode in their work. The method is based on two electrochemical processes, i.e. electrochemical adsorption of GOD molecules and electrochemical growth of porous electrode. GOD immobilized in the growing matrix of platinum black particles is employed for the microfabrication of the enzyme electrode. It demonstrated high performance with high sensitivity and fast responsiveness. [Pg.556]

The amperometric dehydrogenase sensor for ethanol consists of a platinum electrode on the surface of which alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), Meldra blue (MB) and NAD are immobilized with a conductive polypyrrole membrane as schematically illustrated in Fig.24. [Pg.352]

In a further development, an ADH-MB-NAD/polypyrrole electrode, a platinum counter electrode and an Ag/AgCl reference electrode were assembled and covered with a gas-permeable polymer membrane to form an gaseous ethanol sensor. This appears to be the first time that a complete enzyme sensor for gaseous ethanol has been fabricated in such a manner with NAD incorporated in immobilized form. [Pg.353]
