Non-metals are used for corrosion and wear resistance in piping, tanks, valve seats, gaskets, seals, etc. They are generally procured by trade names, although generic specifications exist for commodities such as PVC or plastic-lined pipe. Non-metals include plastics, rubbers, and cemented carbides.
