Piping routing

Pipe routing should be considered when the home is being designed. This will ensure that there is an area reserved for the exhaust pipe and preclude any possibility of having to build the system with numerous elbows and long horizontal pipe runs. Ideally, the pipes should be run through an interior wall of the home or up through closets. [Pg.1270]

A hydraulically designed system is preferred over standardized approach for optimization of the firewater flows, water storage requirements and piping materials. In any case, the main header should not be less than 203 mm (8 in.) in diameter. Piping routed to hydrants, monitors, hose reels and other protective systems should be at least 152 mm (6 in.) in diameter. [Pg.209]

There was one instance of a pipe leaking near the pressure control valve. This was readily fixed but resulted in one day of downtime. The leak was attributed to having retrofitted an alternative pipe routing without a thermal expansion analysis. [Pg.109]

In contrast to these generic tools, the second group of domain-specific software tools addresses certain tasks during the design process in the chemical engineering domain. They can roughly be classified as data retrieval, synthesis, and analysis tools. A typical example for data retrieval tools are physical property systems [1048, 1053[. Synthesis tools include flowsheet synthesis [951, 1039], plant layout and pipe routing [955], model development ]54, 558] or even solvent selection [7.37]. The most prominent examples of analysis tools are process simulators for steady-state ]518, 556, 1046] and dynamic simulation ]288, 518, 916]. [Pg.13]

Check that all valves over the whole pipe route, particularly at manifolds, are correctly set before starting any pump. [Pg.25]

Having decided on the layout of piping relative to individual equipment items or groups of items, it is necessary to devise a system of pipe routing between equipment items and to the piperack (for which refer to the nine basic criteria listed above). Where possible, routes... [Pg.226]

The process and mechanical design are closely related and the engineering tasks are performed concurrently. For example pipe routing is started before the flow sheets are ready (see Figure 1). This is necessary because the results of the piping design are needed for the structural design and procurement in an early phase. [Pg.319]

Pure xenon solidifies at about 161 K and tends to freeze in the cold parts of the plant This is avoided by operating the columns at elevated pressure and thereby at elevated temperature, by wrapping the column shells with electrical heating bands and by careful pipe routing. [Pg.117]

For our purposes here, we will make conservative assumptions alxiut many of these variables. Let us focus on the different types of pipe routing and the impact different pipe sizes have on die span. The designer will use different piping spans for each size of pipe for three basic types of pipe routing. These three types of routing are piperack spans, branch spans, and unsupported overhang spans. [Pg.395]

The first type of pipe routing typically encountered is pipe that is continuously supported. This is the type of routing associated with pipes in a piperack. By con-... [Pg.395]

The second type of pipe routing that affects the allowable span is pipe that is simply supponej . This is the type of routing associated with branch lines coming out of a piperack. What this means is that either end of the span in question is free enough to rotate slightly about the support point. There is no span c i the other side of the support to hold the end of the span from rotating. [Pg.396]

Similarly, check each of the portions of the pipe routing for the correct span. [Pg.414]

The main advantage of compression fittings is the ease with which the tubing components are joined together. Simple tools and not much experience can get the job done. Also, required changes in pipe routing, or expansion of the system, can be effected without difficulty. [Pg.474]

With this procedure it is possible to start the pump procurement activities significantly before the completion of the planning-intensive and detailed pipe routing. [Pg.117]
