Pigment solids

The appendix shows an example of a recursive procedure to calculate the pigment to binder ratio for a non-reactive coating formulation. We assume that a raw material data base contains raw material code, density, cost per unit weight, solids volume fraction, and pigment solids volume fraction. Formulas are stored in files that contain the identification and amount of... [Pg.59]

Another path affording novel pigments is the mixed synthesis yielding solid solutions. The mixed synthesis of two DPP pigments can result in solid solutions, which consist of the two symmetrically and the unsymmetrically substituted DPP pigment. Solid solutions can also be obtained from DPP pigments and quin-acridone pigments. [Pg.489]

DPP/quinacridone and DPP/DPP mixed pigments ( solid solutions ) are introduced or presently being offered to the market. [Pg.490]

Coloristic Variations on the Basis of Mica. Mica platelets can be coated with a variety of compounds to produce novel pigments. Solid state reactions and CVD-process enlarge the possibilities for the synthesis of mica pigments. In addition, the calcination of the materials in the presence of inert (e.g. N2, Ar) or reactive gases (e.g. NFI3, H2, hydrocarbons) allows the formation of phases which are not producible by working in air. Table 54 contains a summary of nacreous mica pigments with special coloristic properties. [Pg.224]

During this same period, practical work with microvoids was being done in Australia that resulted in the commercial production and application of polymeric "pigments" by Balm Paint, Ltd. Publications by Kershaw (89) and Lubbock (90) appeared in Australian technical journals, and several U.S. Patents (3 822 224 3 839 253 3 933 579) were granted for the production of solid, pigmented solid, and pigmented vesiculated polymeric beads—the latter employing the microvoid concept. [Pg.1265]
