Pigment silicone rubber

Iron oxide is used for compounding silicone rubbers where it is used to improve heat stability. Iron oxide, mainly ferric oxide, also finds application as a pigment. [Pg.131]

This is a white pigment used as a reinforcing filler (which is comparable in volume with zinc oxide) and it is also an excellent heat-resisting filler for silicone rubbers. The rutile form gives a rather creamier, more reflectant colour, which is more stable at high temperatures. They are widely used fillers in the manufacture of white or light colour chemical resistance compounds for the pigmentation industry. [Pg.50]

In electronics transmission and distribution at medium and high voltage, automotive, medical and many other applications silicone rubber is a preferred material for various reasons its outstanding chemical resistance, heat ageing, dielectric (insulating) properties, unlimited pigmentability, flexibility in the cold and a wide spectrum of further advantageous properties make it the ideal material. In many cases, there is no alternative to silicone rubber. [Pg.286]

Silicone Heat-Cured Rubber. Sihcone elastomers are made by vulcanising high molecular weight (>5 x 10 mol wt) linear polydimethylsiloxane polymer, often called gum. Fillers are used in these formulations to increase strength through reinforcement. Extending fillers and various additives, eg, antioxidants, adhesion promoters, and pigments, can be used to obtain certain properties (59,357,364). [Pg.53]

Zinc oxide (ZnO) is widely used as an active filler in rubber and as a weatherability improver in polyolefins and polyesters. Titanium dioxide (TiOj) is widely used as a white pigment and as a weatherability improver in many polymers. Ground barites (BaS04) yield x-ray-opaque plastics with controlled densities. The addition of finely divided calcined alumina or silicon carbide produces abrasive composites. Zirconia, zirconium silicate, and iron oxide, which have specific gravities greater than 4.5, are used to produce plastics with controlled high densities. [Pg.123]

Silicone elastomer-based rubber compounds are prepared in conventional apparatuses (closed agitators, roll mills, etc.) and consist of the following ingredients elastomer, active fillers, vulcanising agent, stabiliser, pigment additives. [Pg.266]

The chemicals used for coating and laminating are polymeric materials, either naturally occurring or produced synthetically. These include natural and synthetic rubbers, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl alcohol, acrylic, phenohc resins, polyurethanes, silicones, fluorochemicals, epoxy resins and polyesters." Coating formulations typically include auxiliaries such as plasticizers, adhesion promoters, viscosity regulators, pigments, fillers, flame retardants, catalysts and the like. ... [Pg.24]

Rubber blankets are suitable for spirit, aniline/glycol based inks. Special inks require ketones in PVC inks, hydrocarbons in polythene inks. (Nitrile rubbers are resistant to hydrocarbons.) Many inks now use pigmented polyamides (for plastics/foil)— silicones in waxes may be added to aid slip . UV inks may also be employed, otherwise dry by evaporation. [Pg.420]
