Piggy back

The difference in the nature of process controls and safety interlock systems leads to the conclusion that these two should be physically separated (see Fig. 8-89). That is, safety interlocks should not be piggy-backed onto a process-control system. Instead, the safety interlocks should be provided by equipment, either hard-wired or programmable, that is dedicated to the safety functions. As the process controls become more complex, faults are more likely. Separation means that faults within the process controls have no consequences in the safety interlock system. 

By adding accessories to the sample chamber, or by changing the operating procedures, several other experiments can piggy-back on to the RBS analysis. For example HIBS, HFS, PIXE, NRA, CPAA and PIGE may all be accessible using a given particle accelerator. 

Particle Transport. Because many organic chemicals bind with aquatic particulate matter, particle transport can determine the fate of compounds. Sediment transport has been of interest to the engineering profession for many years. Many discussions of the dynamics of fluvial sediment transport have appeared in the literature (11, 12). As with hydrodynamic transport, one strategy for environmental modeling is to "piggy-back the transport of sorbed chemicals on a model of transport of the sediment phase. 

The concept of two or even three extruders in tandem, or piggy back , feeding to a common die to produce such items as tyre camelback are available from a number of producers. The machines are used to produce components having either different layers or sections consisting of a number of different compounds. Applications using this type of system are tyre components and automotive sealing profiles. 

As described in Section II,B,1, this pathway seems to allow folded and oligomerized proteins to be translocated across the membrane. Therefore, it is not always necessary for a subunit protein to have the signal if another has one (so-called hitchhiker or piggy-backing mechanism) (Rodrigue etal., 1999). In this case, the prediction of its localization site would be inherently difficult. 

I did tell Brad NOT to use the 110 on the auto coil it will blow up because it was designed for 12 volt use only. The coil fires the relays only. An earlier post suggested that it may be piggy-backing to the plug as well. I don t now about this, I don t have the equipment to chase the fire down. 

Pre-WWII. The use of LP for space travel appears to have been first suggested by Ziol-kowsky in 1898, but not published until 1903 (Ref 1). He also suggested the piggy-back launch, ie, a rocket launched from another rocket, although this principle had been used much earlier in fireworks displays... 

The piggy-back or window exploitation studes were first discovered and explored with MDE, and have subsequently been extended most successfully with MDMA. The earliest procedure used was to assay modest quantities of active materials at the drop-off period of MDE, to exploit the open and benign state that was present. Usually, only a fraction of the standard dosage of the following drug was necessary to evoke a full experience. In psychotherapy applications, this sequence has been frequently used with MDMA followed by a second material that has been chosen to modify and expand the opening that the MDMA produced. 

A multicolour imager in which detectors having different wavelength sensitivities are stacked in a piggy-back fashion on top of one another and in which thin film interconnectors are used to connect the detectors with an integrated circuit, forming the detector substrate, is presented in US-A-4137625.

Recently, it was shown that compounds that are bound to HDL have the possibility to be internalized by a piggy-back -like mechanism. HDL-associated alpha-tocopherol was selectively taken up by SR-BI by porcine BCECs (144). It was shown that the alpha-tocopherol uptake exceeded the uptake of HDL(3) particles up to 13-fold, suggesting a selective uptake of this compound without the concomitant internalization of the lipoprotein particle.

In order to better understand the origin and controls of calcite cementation in marine sandstone we studied ten Tertiary lithostratigraphical units exposed in the northern Apennines, Italy, which display a variety of patterns of calcite cement. Five of the units studied were deposited in piggy-back (satellite) basins, and five were deposited in foreland basins. Burial depths of cemented units in piggy-back basins range from 0 to 1300 m, whereas burial depths of foreland basin rocks range from 5(X) to >7000 m. 

Burial depth and Its attendant temperature played a more important role in diagpnesis than whether a formation was deposited in a piggy-back or a foreland basin.
