Synthesis and mechanical and morphological characterization of (AB)n, ABA and BAB type copolymers of m-phenylene-isophthalamide and polydimethylsiloxane have been reported241 242>. The effect of copolymer type, chemical composition and segment molecular weights on phase separation and the solution behavior of these systems have also been discussed. [Pg.39]

The gel properties will also be influenced by many other parameters including the nature of the cross-links, synthesis conditions, type and concentration of initiator used, phase separation, and the presence of noncovalent interactions such as hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions. Nonetheless, the gel properties depend primarily upon the monomers used. [Pg.489]

Fluorous ligands introduce an ease of purification in that the tagged phosphine ligand, the palladium catalyst complexed ligand, and the oxidized ligand can be completely removed by direct fluorous solid-phase separation (F-SPE) prior to product isolation. Similarly, an example of a fluorous palladium-catalyzed microwave-induced synthesis of aryl sulfides has been reported, whereby the product purification was aided by fluorous solid-phase extraction [91]. [Pg.355]

The separate stepwise condensation of the products from Fe-LTFT and Fe-HTFT synthesis produces streams of different carbon number distributions that serve as feeds to the oil refinery (Figure 18.4).30 It is consequently not necessary to employ an atmospheric distillation unit as the first step in the refinery. The stepwise condensation products from Fe-LTFT are reactor wax (liquid at LTFT conditions), hot condensate (>100°C), cold condensate (produced by condensation with the aqueous product and then phase separated), and tail gas (typically C4 and lighter). The stepwise condensation products from Fe-HTFT are decanted oil (liquid at 145°C 1.6 MPa), light oil (produced by condensation with the aqueous product and then phase separated), and tail gas. [Pg.341]

The synthesis of some multiblock copolymers was attempted by successive polymerization using this iniferter technique. However, pure tri- or tetrablock copolymers free from homopolymers were not isolated by solvent extraction because no suitable solvent was found for the separation. In 1963, Merrifield reported a brilliant solid-phase peptide synthesis using a reagent attached to the polymer support. If a similar idea can be applied to the iniferter technique, pure block copolymer could be synthesized by radical polymerization. The DC group attached to a polystyrene gel (PSG) through a hydrolyzable ester spacer was prepared and used as a PSG photoiniferter (Eq. 53) [186] ... [Pg.106]

The next three chapters (Chapters 9-11) focus on the deposition of nano-structured or microstructured films and entities. Porous oxide thin films are, for example, of great interest due to potential application of these films as low-K dielectrics and in sensors, selective membranes, and photovoltaic applications. One of the key challenges in this area is the problem of controlling, ordering, and combining pore structure over different length scales. Chapter 9 provides an introduction and discussion of evaporation-induced self-assembly (EISA), a method that combines sol-gel synthesis with self-assembly and phase separation to produce films with a tailored pore structure. Chapter 10 describes how nanomaterials can be used as soluble precursors for the preparation of extended... [Pg.511]
