The idea of influencing yourself has come from a self-help book on personal therapy. Tom Rusk and Randy Read, in a postscript to I Want To Change But I Don t Know How (1986), have set out their views on what constitutes best psychotherapeutic practice. Their conclusions are based on extensive observations, using videotape, film, and one-way mirrors, of therapeutic sessions. 

This chapter sets the tone for the entire book as it delineates the molecular basis of cooperativity, a crucial biomolecular concept largely overlooked in drug design. Cooperativity is shown to be tightly related to a particular molecular attribute of target proteins known as wrapping. This structure-based feature and its exploitation in the contexts of drug safety, specificity, and personalized therapy will become the leitmotiv of the book.

A better characterization of laboratory operational procedures in order to optimize the diagnostic approaches may allow a most accurate and sensitive identification of genetic markers likely associated with diseases.
