Low Temperature Performance. Discharge curves for a 0.57 Ah Sanyo C/LiCo02 Li-ion polymer battery are shown at the 1C rate at temperatures from -20°C to -l-25°C in Fig. 35.92. As shown, the battery provided 58% its rated capacity at -10°C. [Pg.1149]

The principle of operation of the hydraulic reciprocating pump is similar to the beam pump, with a piston-like sub-surface pump action. The energy to drive the pump, however, is delivered through a hydraulic medium, the power fluid, commonly oil or water. The power fluid drives a downhole hydraulic motor which in turn drives the pump. A separate surface pump delivers the hydraulic power. The power fluid system can be of the closed loop or of the open type. In the latter case, the power fluids are mixed with the produced fluid stream. The performance of the hydraulic pump is primarily monitored by measuring the discharge pressures of both surface and sub-surface pumps. [Pg.231]

Poor performance can result from fan inlet eccentric or spinning dow, and discharge ductwork that does not permit development of hiU fan pressure. Sometimes inlet restrictions starve a fan and limit performance. To obtain rated performance, the air must enter the fan uniformly over the inlet area without rotation or unusual turbulence. This allows all portions of the fan wheel to do equal work. If more air is distributed to one side of the wheel, such as with an elbow on the inlet, the work performed by the lightiy loaded portions of the wheel is reduced and capacity is decreased by 5—10%. The use of an inlet box duct on a fan can reduce capacity by as much as 25% unless there are turning vanes in the duct. Use of the vanes reduces the capacity loss to around 5%. [Pg.107]

Despite their theoreticaUy poor washing performance, due to uneven wash distribution and excessive mn-off because the filter surface is not horizontal, many multicompartment dmm filters continue to be used as cake washing filters. Effective washing of the filter cloth can be done only with the belt discharge type, where the cloth leaves the dmm for a brief period and can thus be washed on both sides. [Pg.397]

In conventional disk filters, cake discharge is usually performed by a scraper blade, for cakes thicker than 10 mm, or sometimes by a tapered roU air blowback is often used to assist the discharge. High pressure sprays also have been used for cake discharge. [Pg.398]

Iodine Pentafluoride. Iodine pentafluoride is produced by the reaction of iodine and fluorine. Because iodine has a high melting poiat, the reaction is either performed ia a solvent or the reaction is maintained at a temperature where the iodine is Hquid. In a continuous process usiug a solvent (104), ca 1% I2 is dissolved iu IF and passed to a reactor where it is contacted with F2 gas. The IF is continuously discharged from the reactor where a small portion is taken off as product and the larger portion of the stream is recycled. [Pg.186]
