Patch liquid

The assay of transdermal preparations of scopolamine involve removing the polyester backing and extracting with chloroform at 60°C for 30 min [59]. Of the variety of different techniques evaluated for extracting triamcinolone acetonide in dermatological patches, liquid-liquid dispersion gave the best recovery and precision [60]. [Pg.284]

Numerous construction products are formulated from asphalt and coal tar for such applications as driveway sealers, cutback asphalts, flashing cements, conerete primers, concrete cold mixes, roof cements, expansion joint fillers, patch liquids, waterproofing liquid-applied membranes, and pipeline eoatings. All these produets are likely to contain... [Pg.855]

This quantity can provide information on phase changes within the sorbate layer, for example the transition from a lattice gas type structure, cp. Fig. 1.2, to a patch-liquid, or a dense mono-layer structure [1.3]. [Pg.60]

The limiting compression (or maximum v value) is, theoretically, the one that places the film in equilibrium with the bulk material. Compression beyond this point should force film material into patches of bulk solid or liquid, but in practice one may sometimes compress past this point. Thus in the case of stearic acid, with slow compression collapse occurred at about 15 dyn/cm [81] that is, film material began to go over to a three-dimensional state. With faster rates of compression, the v-a isotherm could be followed up to 50 dyn/cm, or well into a metastable region. The mechanism of collapse may involve folding of the film into a bilayer (note Fig. IV-18). [Pg.116]

In the chemical process industry molybdenum has found use as washers and bolts to patch glass-lined vessels used in sulphuric acid and acid environments where nascent hydrogen is produced. Molybdenum thermocouples and valves have also been used in sulphuric acid applications, and molybdenum alloys have been used as reactor linings in plant used for the production of n-butyl chloride by reactions involving hydrochloric and sulphuric acids at temperatures in excess of 170°C. Miscellaneous applications where molybdenum has been used include the liquid phase Zircex hydrochlorination process, the Van Arkel Iodide process for zirconium production and the Metal Hydrides process for the production of super-pure thorium from thorium iodide. [Pg.849]

However, on rigid substrates, the growth of dry zones is accompanied by a rim of excess liquid with width X (Fig. 10). As the dewetting proceeds, X increases. For short times and < K, the growth of dry patches is controlled only by surface tension forces and the dewetting speed is constant. A constant dewetting speed of 8 mm-s has been measured when a liquid film of tricresyl phosphate (TCP) dewets on Teflon PFA, a hard fluoropoly-mer of low surface free energy (p. = 250 MPa, 7 = 20 mJ-m ). [Pg.304]

The technique used to study dewetting dynamics on materials consists of making a flat, smooth elastomer surface. A hquid puddle is deposited within a 50-mm-diameter ring of 0.1-mm-thick plasticized adhesive paper adhering to the substrate. The adhesive paper acts as a spacer. A microscope slide is drawn over the liquid to obtain a liquid film of ca. 0.1-mm thickness. At this thickness, the liquid film is unstable, being much less than the equilibrium value, of ca. 1.5 mm calculated from Eq. (29). Nucleation of dry patches... [Pg.305]

Raman spectroscopy is emerging as a powerful analytical tool in the pharmaceutical industry, both in PAT and in qualitative and quantitative analyses of pharmaceuticals. Reviews of analyses of pharmaceuticals by Raman spectroscopy have been published.158 159 Applications include identification of raw materials, quantification of APIs in different formulations, polymorphic screening, and support of chemical development process scale-up. Recently published applications of Raman spectroscopy in high-throughput pharmaceutical analyses include determination of APIs in pharmaceutical liquids,160,161 suspensions,162 163 ointments,164 gel and patch formulations,165 and tablets and capsules.166-172... [Pg.268]

In turbulent flow, properties such as the pressure and velocity fluctuate rapidly at each location, as do the temperature and solute concentration in flows with heat and mass transfer. By tracking patches of dye distributed across the diameter of the tube, it is possible to demonstrate that the liquid s velocity (the time-averaged value in the case of turbulent flow) varies across the diameter of the tube. In both laminar and turbulent flow the velocity is zero at the wall and has a maximum value at the centre-line. For laminar flow the velocity profile is a parabola but for turbulent flow the profile is much flatter over most of the diameter. [Pg.5]

If the test substance is a liquid a patch is applied and secured to the appropriate skin site. A 1-ml tuberculin syringe is used to measure and apply 0.5 ml of test substance to the patch. [Pg.369]

The positive control substance and vehicle control substance are applied to a gauze patch in the same manner as a liquid test substance. [Pg.370]
