Plastic thickness

Partially Plastic Thick-Walled Cylinders. As the internal pressure is increased above the yield pressure, P, plastic deformation penetrates the wad of the cylinder so that the inner layers are stressed plasticady while the outer ones remain elastic. A rigorous analysis of the stresses and strains in a partiady plastic thick-waded cylinder made of a material which work hardens is very compHcated. However, if it is assumed that the material yields at a constant value of the yield shear stress (Fig. 4a), that the elastic—plastic boundary is cylindrical and concentric with the bore of the cylinder (Fig. 4b), and that the axial stress is the mean of the tangential and radial stresses, then it may be shown (10) that the internal pressure, needed to take the boundary to any radius r such that is given by... [Pg.79]

Membrane puncture strength measurements were performed on plasticized samples of Aldrich VHMW and Occidental 410 PVC s. Samples were 33.3 wt% PVC, and 66.7 wt%. dioctylsebacate (DOS) plasticizer. Thicknesses were calculated from densities using weights and areas. Results are given in Figure 3. Membranes were hydrated for 24 hours to duplicate conditions of use. Smaller membranes are stronger per unit thickness. [Pg.242]

Knitted mesh demisting pads are frequently used to improve the performance of separating vessels where the droplets are likely to be small, down to 1 pm, and where high separating efficiencies are required. Proprietary demister pads are available in a wide range of materials, metals and plastics thicknesses and pad densities. For liquid separators, stainless steel pads around 100 mm thick and with a nominal density of 150 kg/m would generally be used. Use of a demister pad allows a smaller vessel to be... [Pg.603]

It is practically impossible to provide a uniform thickness of plastic around the screw holes. The seats of the matching parts should have about the same shape. The lack of uniformity in the plastic thickness creates several bad effects, as was discussed in Section 4.4.4.S on hubs, p. 76. [Pg.51]

In addition the obtained value B=. 6 mm corresponds well to the literary data for samples with the greatest plasticity thickness [13], Then the fast reduction at B growth is observed, that corresponds completely to similar fracture toughness decrease within the frameworks of polymer fracture two-component model [25, 26] and also corresponds to the stressed state transition from plane-stressed to plane-strained one [13]. At B = 20 25 mm the values reach as miptotic magnitude, that also corresponds to the experimental B value, obtained for transition to plane-strained state [24]. [Pg.207]

Advantages to plastic cell cases are cost and electrical isolation in the 320 V and higher battery packs common to today s electric vehicles, where even high resistance leakage currents to other vehicle components must be considered. Further design considerations for plastic cell cases include development costs for permanent molds, gas permeation, thermal conductivity, and sufficient plastic thickness for gas pressure containment without can wall bulging. NiMH battery modules using plastic cell cases are shown in Fig. 30.3. [Pg.879]

We determined the bond strength by 180° peel test By nsing Tagnchi optimization we investigated the effect of the main injection noolding parameters on the peel strength. Also, we stndied the effect of insert/plastic thickness ratio on the adhesion. [Pg.2570]
