Participation, More Awareness

Using safety committees may not always be the best approach to reach a decision. However, these group decisions are often the best buy-in from employees on safety matters. The benefit is that many viewpoints with varied experiences can help produce better decisions. 

Employee participation can be used to help identify and solve safety issues. Employees who participate enjoy their work more than those who simply do what they are told. When employees enjoy their work, they take a greater responsibility in their jobs and tend to produce a better quality product. Reduced turnover is a benefit of increased employee participation [7].

During my first experience with a psychedelic drug, mescaline, I told my body to walk down to the end of the hall. Then my awareness became completely absorbed in various internal events. After what seemed a very long time, I was surprised to notice that my body had walked down the hall and obligingly stopped at the end, with no conscious participation or awareness on my part. To some extent this occurs in an ordinary d-SoC, especially with well-learned actions, but the effect can be much more striking in a d-ASC. The Conversation Clock makes salient aspects of conversation that would be otherwise unnoticed. In this paper, we demonstrate the effects of augmenting collocated conversation to gauge how people percieve themselves and others. As results of our user study have shown, participants in conversation become more aware of their own and other participants interaction and react to cues differently creating a more balanced conversation. 

The second session displayed our social mirror, the Conversation Clock. Participants seemed more aware of their own and others participation. 

Regardless of the main objective of a session, some initial awareness raising makes participants more receptive to the content. 

The link between kriging, radial basis functions and maximum probability interpolants could be investigated in a much deeper way than in Section 4. The huge effort to analyse and develop radial basis function methods would be made more valuable if the participants in the growing radial basis function literature were more aware of the need for statistical considerations in the scattered data problem.
