Paecilomyces varioti

Biological In an in vitro study, the soil fungi Fusarium oxysponim and Paecilomyces varioti degraded pendimethalin to W(l-ethylpropyl)-3,4-dimethyl-2-nitrobenzene-l,6-diamine and 3,4-di-methyl-2,6-dinitroaniline. The latter compound was the only metabolite identified by another soil fungus namely, Rhizoctonia bataticola (Singh and Kulshrestha, 1991). [Pg.1602]

A number of new analogues of variotin (6), the antifungal antibiotic produced by Paecilomyces varioti, have been synthesized. The key step, a mild N-acylation of N-trimethylsilyl-2-pyrrolidone. was generalized for MejSi derivatives of six-and seven-membered ring lactams. ... [Pg.57]

Variotin, an antifungal antibiotic, is produced by Paecilomyces varioti Bainer var. antibioticus and was isolated by Takeuchi et al, (1959)- It does not inhibit bacteria and some fungi at 160 [xg/ml but does inhibit a number of fungi pathogenic to man such as Blastomyces dermatitidis, Trichophyton ruhrum and Microspomm audouini at 0.25 (xg/ml or less. It is used topically for the treatment of human dermatomycosis. [Pg.216]

Biogenesis of carbon skeleton of variotin was studied by addition of labeled compounds to the culture medium with variotin-producing organism (Tanaka et ah, 1962). To determine the bios5mthesis of the Cig-acid moiety, spores of Paecilomyces varioti were inoculated into a S5mthetic medium and cultured at... [Pg.217]
