Oxide formulations

The discussion of the structure of the nitrones and the hydrazones received less attention. With the increased application of physical methods to structural problems, the three-membered ring structures for these compounds lost much of their attraction. The problem of the structure of the nitrones was satisfactorily solved with the open-chain A -oxide formulation. The compounds originally designated as diaziridines (2) were partly reformulated with the open-chain hydra-zone structures and partly were left without a. satisfactory proof of structure. [Pg.84]

Pyrotechnics are often used in the production of fireworks and primers. A pyrotechnic contains both a fuel and an oxidizer formulated to produce a lot of energy. The energy is then used to produce a flame or glow (matchstick) or combined with other volatile substances to produce smoke and light (fireworks) or large quantities of gas (firework rockets). [Pg.56]

On the other hand, certain arene oxides do not undergo this valence tautomerism. Thus the arene oxide formulation can fully represent the structure and reactivity of a compound, but in other cases the oxepin form alone fits the structure and reactivity. [Pg.96]

Tetramethyl-2-phenyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-l,6-naphthyridine suffered similar A-oxidation to give a pseudo-A-oxide, formulated as the stable 6-nitroxyl... [Pg.121]

Amiodarone commonly causes phototoxicity reactions (186,187). The risk of phototoxicity increases with the duration of the exposure. Window glass and sun screens do not give protection, although zinc or titanium oxide formulations and narrow band UVB photo therapy can help (188-190). For most patients this adverse effect will be no more than a nuisance, and the benefit of therapy may be worthwhile. However, in a few cases treatment may have to be withdrawn. Histological examination of skin biopsies shows intracytoplasmic inclusions of phospholipids (191). There has been a single report of a severe case of photosensitivity in conjunction with a syndrome resembling porphyria cutanea tarda, resulting in bullous lesions (192). [Pg.161]

Lower hydrated oxides formulated as Re0 H2O and Re20 2H20, are obtained by Zn reduction of weakly acid ReO solutions they are not fully investigated. [Pg.975]

Recently Krogmann et al postulated a cation-deflcient, partially oxidized formulation for this material, K o.5lr(CO)2Cl2, and a columnar structure in the solid (16). This one-dimensional structure is consistent with the observed diamagnetism, stoichiometry, IR spectra, dc conductivity, and visual appearance of the complexes. Preliminary powder x-ray data support this formulation with a short 2.86 A Ir-Ir distance. This information sets a basis for the interpretation of detailed optical, electrical, and magnetic measurements that will help in further understanding of the chemistry and physics of one-dimensional inorganic complexes. [Pg.20]

Cripps and Jenkins found that the extent of this oxidation was a function of the duration of the COD digestion. The longer that the oxidation was allowed to proceed, the greater the extent of chloromercury(II) complex dissociation and the greater was the COD due to Cl oxidation. Formulated as an empirical "chloride correction factor," they found that the COD due to Cl oxidation was 0.00041 x mg Cl /liter x time of digestion in hours. [Pg.209]

The large difference between the optimum dose of CI2 determined in this study and that reported by Robeck et al. 21) may result from the amount of CI2 consumed in oxidizing formulating solvents, plus the chlorine demand of the river water which was characterized by a chemical oxygen demand of 5-35 mg/liter and a carbon-chloroform extract of 185-1320 /xg/liter. [Pg.207]

Van Alphen pointed out that Williamson had given another reaction for the formation of ether ( which is never mentioned ), viz. heating alcohol with zinc chloride, when ethyl chloride is formed and a compound ethyl zinc oxide, formulated on a water type (Zw ==32 5), and the two react to form ether ... [Pg.450]

Preparative Method the active oxidant, formulated as Me2+ S0(P205) , is generated in situ from the reaction of DMSO and P2O5 in the presence of the alcohol. [Pg.235]

The incorporation of 10%-30% glass fiber into the non-fire retardant and fire retardant polyphenylene oxide formulations causes a decrease in dielectric strength. [Pg.227]

Palo et al. investigated methanol steam reforming at a 375 °C reaction temperature, applying proprietary catalyst formulations [187], which minimised the carbon monoxide concentration to 1.2 vol.%. This value was significantly lower compared with the 3 vol.% found for a copper/zinc oxide catalyst [188]. It could well be assumed that the proprietary catalyst was also a palladium/zinc oxide formulation. [Pg.76]

A1 and PTFE are typically less impact ignition sensitive than A1 combined with other oxidizers. The ductility and malleability of PTFE tend to cushion impact enough to require A1 -H PTFE impact ignition energies almost twice that of intermetallic or metal-metal oxide formulations. Toward this end, studies have examined the influence of carbon additives to sensitize A1 -i- PTFE to impact ignition. Specifically, three forms of carbon additives were investigated and selected based on different physical and structural properties spherically shaped amorphous nanoparticles of carbon. [Pg.373]
