Oxide 20 blanc fixe

Barium sulphate Zinc oxide Blanc Fixe Snow white Zinc white Feller (1986) Riffault e/[Pg.335]

Lakes. Lakes are a special kind of color additive prepared by precipitating a soluble dye onto an approved iasoluble base or substratum. In the case of D C and Ext. D C lakes, this substratum may be alumina, blanc fixe, gloss white, clay, titanium dioxide, 2iac oxide, talc, rosia, aluminum ben2oate, calcium carbonate, or any combination of two or more of these materials. Currentiy, alumina is the only substratum approved for manufactuting FD C lakes. [Pg.444]

Laver (1997) lists a number of commercial products available since the 1920s compounded of barium sulfate and titanium(IV) oxide. Heaton (1947 cf. Feller, 1986) describes early forms of titanium dioxide white formed on a base of synthetic barium sulfate ( blanc fixe ). [Pg.364]

Lithopone - Lithopone production starts with the same process used for blanc fixe, except that zinc sulfate is used in place of sodiiun sulfate. The intimate mixture of barium sulfate and zinc sulfide that precipitates is filtered, washed, dried, calcined, water quenched, wet ground, and dried. The result is a white mixture of barium sulfate, zinc sulfide, and zinc oxide. Lithopone was one of the first fine white pigments for industry but is now rarely used. [Pg.22]
