Oxidation using oxygen

Chemiluminescent Immunoassay. Chemiluminescence is the emission of visible light resulting from a chemical reaction. The majority of such reactions are oxidations, using oxygen or peroxides, and among the first chemicals studied for chemiluminescence were luminol (5-amino-2,3-dihydro-l,4-phthalazinedione [521-31-3]) and its derivatives (see Luminescent materials, chemiluminescence). Luminol or isoluminol can be directly linked to antibodies and used in a system with peroxidase to detect specific antigens. One of the first appHcations of this approach was for the detection of biotin (31). [Pg.27]

Curing is the process of exposing plates pasted positive and negative to a regime of (a) controlled time (minimum 32h), (b) temperature (30-35°C), and (c) relative humidity (>90%). This process converts the free lead into lead oxide, using oxygen from the surrounding air. The plates are allowed to cure for a minimum of 32 h. Care is also taken to ensure that the maximum temperature of the plate does not exceed 60°C. The cured plates are then parted. [Pg.1308]

The introduction of catalytic oxidations using oxygen from air is of much interest and breakthrough discoveries and spectacular progress have been achieved in research on catalytic asymmetric oxidations since the early part of the last century [3-5]. The increased number of publications per year in this area, as extracted from the electronically accessible literature in a SciFinder search, is shown in Figure... [Pg.314]

The assignment of proton chemical shifts is also supported by carbon-13 chemical shifts obtained for the 5,6-isopropylidene derivatives of DHA, iherythro-DHA and 6-bromo-6-deoxy-L-DHA. All the dehydro compounds were prepared by oxidation using oxygen over charcoal in 95% ethanol. The preparation of the isopropylidene derivatives follows. [Pg.111]

Numerous other large-volume compounds can be made from ethylene and propylene by standard petrochemical methods. Ethylene can be oxidized to ethylene oxide using oxygen with a silver catalyst (12.4). Propylene can be oxidized to propylene oxide with hydrogen peroxide and titanium silicalite (see Chap. 4). Vinyl chloride (a carcinogen) is produced by adding chlorine to ethylene, followed by... [Pg.361]

The further metabolism of c r-kaurene (62) is consistent with a single pathway, involving the oxidation using oxygen gas to give 19-hydroxy-ent-kaur-... [Pg.235]

It is instructive to view the schematic of an EICD shown in Fig. 4.24 from the perspective of the analyte of interest as it emerges from the outlet of the PID and enters the reaction tube. The analyte is pyrolyzed in the reactor. In the sulfur mode, the analyte is oxidized using oxygen reaction... [Pg.336]

Selective catalytic oxidations using oxygen as terminal oxidant is a topic of much current interest due to the cost-effectiveness and greenness of these processes compared to the use of other chemicals as oxidants. In this regard aerobic oxidation of benzylic alcohols in addition of being an important process from the industrial point of view has become a preferred test reaction to rank the catalytic activity of various materials. Palladium NPs... [Pg.106]
