Overwriting

The exact position of reflectors within the weld volume is calculated by means of the known probe position plus weld geometry and transferred to a true-to-scale representation of the weld (top view and side view). Repeated scanning of the same zone only overwrites the stored indications in cases where they reach a higher echo amplitude. The scanning movement of the probe is recorded in the sketch at the top, however, only if the coupling is adequate and the probe is situated within the permissible rotation angle.

Data is passed between levels of recursive procedures in variables cited in the CALL statement for the procedure. Although these saturated designs, assume interaction effects to be negligible and only estimate main effects, they have the feature known as confounding where higher order effects can overwrite the main effects. 

An awareness of these confounding effects can help both in the design of a ruggedness study and in the interpretation of results. MATLAB m files can contain any number of MATLAB commands. They are handy for long sets of MATLAB instructions or data and afford easy repeated use and easy modification. There are two kinds of MATLAB m files function and script m files. Script m files such as poly9. m on p. 28 use the data that is defined inside of them and any undefined data is taken from the data (with the proper name) that is currently active on the workspace look at the top left window commonly displayed on the MATLAB desktop for a list of defined variables and their type. Script files overwrite the workspace data as instructed in their code.
