An organized document filing system must be maintained. This could be a paper file, an electronic document file, or a mixture of both. The equipment inventory system contains key information on the components of each system, their performance criteria and maintenance and calibration status. All documents including installation and performance documentation, as with other documents necessary to demonstrate the quality of the data, include SOPs for the qualification procedures, calibration, maintenance, personnel training, etc. If the manufacturer s operating, service, or maintenance manuals are used or cited in the operating procedures, copies of these manuals should be maintained. To facilitate retrieval, documentation should be stored in a central location and be indexed for easy retrieval. [Pg.1042]

Research done in an academic setting generally results in a formal publication that appears in the primary literature. The research results contained in dissertations may or may not be published separately. Dissertations are catalogued and placed on the shelves of the student s university. Many universities now have electronic catalogues that allow searching from remote sites. Dissertations are also indexed by commercial organizations (see below). [Pg.775]

FIGURE 2.1 Energy of the 0-0 vibrational transition in the principal electronic absorption spectrum of violaxanthin (l Ag-—>1 BU+), recorded in different organic solvents, versus the polarizability term, dependent on the refraction index of the solvent (n). The dashed line corresponds to the position of the absorption band for violaxanthin embedded into the liposomes formed with DMPC (Gruszecki and Sielewiesiuk, 1990) and the arrow corresponds to the polarizability term of the hydrophobic core of the membrane (n = 1.44). [Pg.20]

This review is intended to cover most of the aspects of NMR in phosphorus chemistry, especially stressing those aspects directly related to electronic and structural factors. Some subjects will only be briefly reviewed, e.g. resonances in solid compounds, in metal complexes [this subject has been treated in a previous article in this seriesa969,1)] and biological applications. All the compounds reviewed are tabulated in either Formula Index I (inorganics) or Formula Index II (organics), the whole comprising of more than four thousand five hundred entries. These indicesf list all available chemical shifts for phosphorus and fluorine those for other nuclei (except protons) are reported in the text of this review. [Pg.2]

So, why this book, if the columns are already available free on the Web First, there are a lot of them, 103 in this book. It is convenient having them all in one place. Too, there is an index of senior authors, and a subject/transformation index. Most important, this collection of columns, taken together, is an effective overview of the most important developments in organic synthesis over the two-year period. The dates have been left on the columns in this volume, so they will be easy to locate on the Web. The web columns include electronic links to the articles cited. [Pg.117]
