Opren

The proximity of the methyl group to the double bond in natural rubber results in the polymer being more reactive at both the double bond and at the a-methylenic position than polybutadiene, SBR and, particularly, polychlor-oprene. Consequently natural rubber is more subject to oxidation, and as in this case (c.f. polybutadiene and SBR) this leads to chain scission the rubber becomes softer and weaker. As already stated the oxidation reaction is considerably affected by the type of vulcanisation as well as by the use of antioxidants. [Pg.288]

Lilly have recently introduced an anti-inflammatory drug opren (53) which may repair damage as well as reduce inflammation. Suggest a synthesis for (53). [Pg.471]

This was an important factor in the development of adverse reactions to the antiarthritis drug benoxaprofen (Opren), which caused serious toxicity in some elderly patients, necessitating withdrawal of the drug from the market. [Pg.162]

Al-Tl Catalyst for cis-1,4-Poly isoprene. Of the many catalysts that polymerize isoprene, four have attained commercial importance. One is a coordination catalyst based on an aluminum alkyl and a vanadium salt which produces />mf-l,4-polyisoprene. A second is a lithium alkyl which produces 90% j -l,4-p olyis oprene. Very high (99%) cis- 1,4-polyisoprene is produced with coordination catalysts consisting of a combination of titanium tetrachloride, TiCl4, plus a trialkylaluminum, R3A1, or a combination ofTiCl4 with an alane (aluminum hydride derivative) (86—88). [Pg.467]

Currently, (N- 1,4-polyisoprene is manufactured in the United States only by The Goodyear Tire Rubber Co. at Beaumont, Texas. In Western Europe, only the Shell Nederland Chemie (Royal Dutch/Shell Group) commercially produces of-1,4-polyisoprene in Japan, the producers are Japan Synthetic Rubber Co., Ltd. and Nippon Zeon Co., Ltd. The sole wodd producer of trans- 1,4-p olyis oprene is Kuraray Co., Ltd. in Japan. [Pg.5]

Various polymeric materials were tested statically with both gaseous and liquefied mixtures of fluorine and oxygen containing from 50 to 100% of the former. The materials which burned or reacted violently were phenol—formaldehyde resins (Bakelite) polyacrylonitrile—butadiene (Buna N) polyamides (Nylon) polychlor-oprene (Neoprene) polyethylene polytrifluoropropylmethylsiloxane (LS63) polyvinyl chloride—vinyl acetate (Tygan) polyvinylidene fluoride—hexafluoropro-pylene (Viton) polyurethane foam. Under dynamic conditions of flow and pressure, the more resistant materials which burned were chlorinated polyethylenes, polymethyl methacrylate (Perspex) polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon). [Pg.1580]

Proprietary Names. Opren Oraflex. 2-[2-(4-Chlorophenyl)benzoxazol-5-yl]propionic acid Ci6Hi2C1NO3 = 301.7 CAS—51234-28-7... [Pg.377]

Other simple conjugated dienes used in polymer synthesis Lnclw. chloropreue 2-chloro-1.3-butactienre>and u)oprene(2-in thyM,3 huLa(li ni iMprene has been prepared industrially by several rndthods. including c> acid-catalyzed double dehydration of 3-methyM,3-buUnediol. [Pg.544]

The function of the kidney decreases with age, and in the elderly the ability to excrete substances is reduced. Therefore drugs and their breakdown products can accumulate in the bodies of elderly patients if they take repeated doses of a drug (see box on Opren, page 29). [Pg.21]

BUTADIENE CHLOROPREEN (DUTCH) CHLOR-OPREN (GERMAN, POUSH) CHLOROPRENE P-CHLOROPRENE (OSHA, MAK) CHLOROPRENE, inhibited (DOT) CHLOROPRENE, uninhibited (DOT) 2-CLORO-1,3-BUTADIENE (ITALI.AN) CLOROPRENE (ITALIAN)... [Pg.981]

As occurs in natural rubber, only the 1,4-cis isomer exhibits elastomeric characteristics. The most important synthetic diene rubbers are polychlor-oprene (neoprene) and rubbers derived from butadiene such as styrene-butadiene and acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymers. [Pg.124]

This symposium, "Chemical-Mechanical Polishing—Fundamentals and Challenges," held April 5-7 at the 1999 MRS Spring Meeting in San Francisco, California, was aimed at bringing together many of the active players in this field from all parts of the world, it reflects to some extent the role played both by academic institutions and multinational corporations in oprening up the frontiers in the field of CMP for wider dissemination. [Pg.291]

Benoral benorylate. benorilate benorylate. benorylate [ban] (benorilate [inn] paracetamol acetylsallcylate BenoraP ) is an aspirin-paracetamol ester, and these two pharmacologically active constituents are released systemically at different rates. It has cyclooxygenase inhibitor, nsaid analgesic, antiinflammatory and antirheumatic activity. It is used orally, particularly to treat the pain of rheumatic disease and other musculoskeletal disorders, as well as to treat fever, benoxaprofen [ban, inn, usan] (Opren ) is one of the propionic acid series of CYCLOOXYGENASE INHIBITORS with nsaid ANALGESIC. ANTIINFLAMMATORY and ANTIPYRETIC activity also effective for psoriasis. It was withdrawn due to adverse drug reactions. [Pg.47]

It is a derivative of human adipogenesis inhibitory factor. Opren benoxaprofen. [Pg.210]
