The curbside collection study of RPCs in Banhaven, Ontario by TransOntario Plastics idendfled the types of plastic collected using hand sortation and lab analysis. The types of plastic collected were reported by weight as  [Pg.30]

Prior to the start of the 24 week Ontario RPC program, no curbside collection of any plastic had occurred. A separate curbside program collected PET beverage bottles (along with other recyclables) prior to the addition of RPCs for the study. Following RPC introduction, the plastics composition by weight was as follows 65% HDPE/PP, 26% [Pg.30]

Wetox uses a single-reactor vessel that is baffled to simulate multiple stages. The design allows for higher destmction efficiency at lower power input and reduced temperature. Its commercial use has been limited to one faciHty in Canada for treatment of a complex industrial waste stream. Kenox Corp. (North York, Ontario, Canada) has developed a wet oxidation reactor design (28). The system operates at 4.1—4.7 MPa (600 to 680 psi) with air, using a static mixer to achieve good dispersion of Hquid and air bubbles. [Pg.502]

Open-pit zinc mining is not common, since most mines ate below the surface. The Kidd Creek Mine in Ontario, Canada, is a combination open-pit—underground mine. It is one of the richest deposits in the world with an estimated 62.5 x 10 t grading 7.08% zinc, 1.33% copper, and 151 g silver (14). Underground mining methods include room-and-pdlar, shrinkage, cut-and-fill, and square set. In the United States, ca 20 mines account for more than 98% of zinc production. [Pg.397]
