Delivery Notes

Optional experiment. When all the air has been displaced, collect a test-tube of the gas over water (by appropriate inclination of the end of the delivery tube beneath the mouth of a test-tube filled with water and supported in a beaker of water). Observe the colour and odour of the gas. Ignite the test-tube of gas, and note the luminosity of the flame and the amount of carbon deposited. Pure acetylene is almost odourless the characteristic odour observed is due to traces of hydrides of phosphorus, arsenic and sulphur. [Pg.245]

For further purification the material may be recrystallized from hot water, or dissolved in alkali and reprecipitated, or distilled under reduced pressure or sublimed. Each of these operations involves considerable loss of product, either through solubility or through decomposition by heat. The best-appearing product is obtained by distillation under reduced pressure. The crude acid is distilled from a Claisen flask with a delivery tube set low in order that the acid need not be heated much above the boiling j)oint. The product boiling at i4i-i44°/20 mm. is ])ure wliitc and melts at 125-132° (Note 8). The yield of distilled acid is about 75-85 per cent of the weight of the crude acid. [Pg.45]

A 1-1. flask (Note 1) is fitted with a condenser, an efficient stirrer, two dropping funnels, a thermometer extending well into the flask, and a delivery tube which extends far enough to be below the surface of the stirred liquid. [Pg.36]

However, it is important to note that this conclusion becomes invalid if the air for cooling the LP turbine is taken from compressor delivery (as in Fig. 4.3b) and then throttled at constant temperature (T2 = Ty) to the lower pressure before being mixed with the gas leaving the HP turbine. The thermal efficiency drops as another internal irreversibility is introduced it can be shown [5] that... [Pg.52]

Subcontractor development should not be limited to the assessment for compliance to ISO/TS 16949 as indicated in Note 1. The standard contains the minimum requirements and, with the requirement for continuous improvement, it may be necessary to work with some of your subcontractors in order to develop their capability to improve process capability and delivery schedules or reduce avoidable costs. You can t develop all your subcontractors and hence Note 2 of the standard indicates that you should prioritize subcontractors for development based upon performance and importance of product or service supplied. [Pg.324]

Delivery advice notes will be needed to match shipments to inventory and to trace problems should the need arise. A shipment notification system similar to that which you need to have with your customer will also be necessary in order to alert you to any shipment difficulties. A simple database to record planned deliveries against actual deliveries and incidents of premium freight usage may suffice. However, you will need to take account of changes in planned deliveries and therefore you will need to link the notification system with the recording system so that the two are compatible at all times. [Pg.325]

The oxidation of the crude /3-chloropropionaldehyde is carried out in a 200-cc. flask fitted with a cork stopper held by a clamp about 2 cm. %bove the opening of the neck. The stopper carries a mechanical stirrer, a separatory funnel, a thermometer and a glass delivery tube about 10 mm. in diameter which is connected to a water pump. The space between the stopper and the flask is closed by winding a strip of asbestos paper around it (Note 3). [Pg.54]

To test the delivery time, again separate the components of the stopcock, dry, grease and reassemble, then fill the burette to the zero mark with distilled water, and place in the holder. Adjust the position of the burette so that the jet comes inside the neck of a conical flask standing on the base of the burette stand, but does not touch the side of the flask. Open the stopcock fully, and note the time taken for the meniscus to reach the lowest graduation mark of the burette this should agree closely with the time marked on the burette, and in any case, must fall within the limits laid down by BS 846 (1985). [Pg.89]

The field of DNA vaccination started when eukaryotic expression vectors were injected into the muscle of laboratory animals [2]. The authors observed protein expression for more than 2 months after injection and noted that no special delivery system was required to obtain this expression. Subsequently, it was demonstrated that antibodies can be induced simply by injecting plasmid DNA into the muscle of mice [3]. Subsequent studies found that the injection of expression plasmids also leads to the induction of a cytotoxic T-cell response. After injection, the DNA enters cells of the vaccinated host and the encoded gene becomes expressed. This eventually leads to the induction of a cellular cytotoxic T-cell, T-helper, and/or humoral (antibody) immune response. [Pg.433]

Poor Record Keeping. Unfortunately, many small industrial laboratories have inadequate records. This can have unpleasant consequences. In one case, the manufacturer of an alcohol solution was challenged by a customer about meeting specifications set forth in the contract. For his defense, he had not retained samples that could be traced to the disputed deliveries, and his only written information consisted of scribbled notes on loose sheets of paper from his desk drawer. He lost the contract. An independent investigation indicated that he had probably done his job right, but he had no way to prove it. [Pg.124]

Of note, allied health care professionals soon may routinely assume a role as referring TeleStroke providers at spoke hospitals a recent case report documented the first delivery of rt-PA by an advance practice nurse in the ED at a hospital in rural Texas networked by a TeleStroke system to a stroke center in Houston. ... [Pg.227]
