Normal operation mode

For new processes, the employer will find a PHA helpful in improving the design and construction of the process from a reliability and quality point of view. The safe operation of the new process is enhanced by making use of the PHA recommendations before final installations are completed. P IDs should be completed, the operating procedures in place, and the operating staff trained to run the process, before startup. The initial startup procedures and normal operating procedures must be fully evaluated as part of the prestartup review to ensure a safe transfer into the normal operating mode. [Pg.237]

In the normal operation mode of a base load IGCC plant, i. e. hill load, the NO emissions amount to around 10% of total NO, with the Vamamo gas turbine. At 75% load, the NO emissions are 20-25%, and at 50% load around 35% of total NO,. [Pg.528]

In the normal operating mode in gas, supercritical fluid and liquid chromatography the stationary phase is contained in a rigid container, usually a tube of various... [Pg.5]

Retractable Pins. The retractable pin tool (RPT) consisted of an actuated pin within a rotating shoulder (Ref 94, 95) to allow pin length adjustment during FSW (Fig. 2.18). The normal operational mode for these tools was to retract the pin at a prescribed rate as the tool traversed forward. This allowed the closure of the exit hole in circumferential friction stir welds. [Pg.19]

In the coated case (the normal operational mode of the artificial mucosa -Figure 5.3b), the response of the outlet sensor after normalization shows very different temporal responses that are strongly stimulus specific. Here we see a clear additional latency in the onset of the response and also its duration is much longer, which is clearly due to spatio-temporal stimulus dynamics imposed by the coated mucosa when we compare to the uncoated case. This stimulus dependent difference in... [Pg.80]

Control mechanisms must be overcome to force a living system from its normal operating mode. It will be much easier to work with the control system to accomplish objectives. [Pg.430]

Depending on the separation task, the fractionator may be operated only as an enrichment column, only as a stripping column or in a normal operating mode as shown in Fig. 2-84. [Pg.223]

The location of valves, along with their type, type of operator, position (during the normal operating mode of the plant), type of position indication, and failure position is shown on Figures 6.3.2-lA, 6.3.2-lB, and 6.3.2-lC. [Pg.163]

The run-time architecture of HelenOS is inherently dynamic. The bindings between the components are not created at compile-time, but during bootstrap and can be modified to a large degree also during normal operation mode of the system (via human interaction and external events). [Pg.75]

The RAPED uses forced convection in normal operation mode it is being developed as an operator-free reactor. [Pg.65]

The possibility of a long-term operation of the plant in the normal operation mode without the intervention of operating personnel has been confirmed. [Pg.192]

By-design elimination of main circulating pumps (natural circulation of the primary coolant in normal operation mode) and... [Pg.243]

The use of micro fuel elements with radioactive release probability of 10 secures a low level of radioactivity in the turbine under normal operation modes. This contributes to the reduction of the turbine circuit cost through a lower cost of biological shielding and also reduces the operation and maintenance costs for the turbine circuit. [Pg.342]

A common failure mode of steam traps is failure of the sealing device (i.e., plunger, disk, or valve) to return to a leak-tight seat when in its normal operating mode. Leakage during normal operation may lead to abnormal... [Pg.440]

Under nominal operating conditions, e.g., for a scheduled reactor shutdown, the decay heat is removed by the intermediate heat exchangers (IHXs) and cooling circuits via steam generators, water/steam systems, and condensers. The main components used for normal operation modes are sketched in Fig.S.9. This solution assumes that at least one heat removal circuit out of three or four remains undamaged and that the heat can be transported by forced or natural convection from the core to the condenser. [Pg.205]

Another principle is to concede that an automatic machine must be designed to operate without danger in its normal operating mode one... [Pg.128]

In Chapter 12, Cemescu et al. present a reverse engineering application in the context of dental engineering. The aim is to efficiently and effectively assess the mechanical quality of manufactured complete dentures in terms of their behavior to mechanical stresses e.g. detect areas likely to underperform or crack in normal operation mode. The reverse engineering pipeline presented covers the steps of 3D model acquisition by means of scanning and surface reconstruction, creation of a finite element mesh suitable for numerical simulations, and the actual computation of stress and strain factors in presence of induced model defects. [Pg.289]

Normal operation (mode = 0) or disconnection (mode = 1) of the spur gear are considered for the detection of minimal path sets. [Pg.2022]

Remark An operating mode can be defined for each phase of life in OK mode, phases of life taking values in the set OM Normal Operating Mode, DW Shutdown, MA Maintenance, UP Startup, DW Shutdown ... [Pg.2047]

This protection I C system contains four divisions, which are strictly identical, see Figure 1. These divisions are physically separated. Each division is composed of five Acquisition Processing Units (APU). The APU 0, 1 and 2 represent the subsystem A (SSA). The APU 3 and 4 represent the subsystem B (SSB). The gathering of APU into subsystems takes into account the allocation of control functions of the I C system. For the same control function, there is one implementation in an APU of SSA and one implementation in an APU of SSB with different inputs and treatment and their outputs must be identical in the normal operating mode. [Pg.2123]

After setting the feedwater flow rate at 35%, nuclear heating starts at a subcriti-cal pressure. When the pressure of the core reaches an adequate value, saturated steam from the separator flows to the turbines. After startup of the turbines, the core is pressurized to a supercritical pressure with a core power at 20%. Startup operation ends and the plant is switched to the normal operation mode. The reactor power increases with the feedwater flow rate. [Pg.26]
