Coatings nitride

Titanium carbide and titanium nitride coatings for carbide tools that greatly outperform uncoated tools and are taking an increasing share of the market. [Pg.26]

Reduction Reactions. Titanium nitride coatings are produced by CVD with titanium tetrachloride as the metal source and either nitrogen gas or ammonia as a source of nitrogen ... [Pg.285]

CVD titanium nitride (TiN) is the most important interstitial-nitride coating from an application standpoint. It is used extensively to provide wear resistance and as a diffusion barrier and antireflection coating in semiconductor devices. 1 °]... [Pg.287]

Experiments like those described above have been performed to evaluate sodium ion barrier properties of Hitachi PIQ and DuPont PI 2540 polyimide films. Also included in the comparison were silicon nitride coatings plasma deposited in both tensile and compressive stress modes. The structure of the samples is illustrated in Figure 9. N-type, (111) oriented silicon substrates were cleaned and oxidized in dry oxygen ambient at 1100°C to form a 1060 A Si02 film. Wafers intended for polyimide characterization were coated with an organic silane film (gamma glycidal amino propyl trimethoxysilane) to promote adhesion of the polyimide to the oxide surface. The polyimide resins were spun onto the wafers at speeds to produce final... [Pg.161]

Nitride Coatings. Carbide tips coated with titanium nitride or titanium carbonitride are usually manufactured by a CVD process using T1CI4, H4, and N2 in a hot-wall reactor. [Pg.1078]

Method b, the so-called hot pressing method is suitable for making dense composites. A 2D woven Hi-Nicolon tissue with or without a boron nitride coating (BN) is used as reinforcement. All of this is illustrated by the following photographs. [Pg.351]

Fig. 40 Conducting film, plasma polymerised from 2-iodothiophene, on silicon. Left topography contrast (shaded pseudo-3D-image) with 405 nm corrugation. Middle real part (conductivity), with a contrast of 2.8 nA. Right imaginary part (capacity), with a contrast of 270 pA, the a.c. currents shown in the middle and in the right image were simultaneously measured together with the topography. The cantilever is made of silicon nitride coated with gold. The excitation is 0.8 V at 60 kHz, the scan speed is 4.17 pm/s... The results of this analysis are presented in a dimensionless form readily applicable to a range of preform thicknesses, fiber diameters, fiber volume fractions, and deposition chemistries. To illustrate the application of these results to a practical problem, the optimum process conditions are determined for a sample problem in which a boron nitride coating is deposited from boron trichloride and ammonia. [Pg.185]

Titanium nitride coatings utilized as abrasion resistant layers on cemented carbides and as decorative layers (golden yellow) on articles of jewelry... [Pg.493]

In the block casting process, source silicon is melted in a first quartz crucible and poured into a second, nitride-coated crucible. Heaters are used to control cooling to produce columnar grains. Relative to Bridgeman, faster solidification is possible but at the expense of smaller grains. [Pg.2133]

Practical interest in nitrides is mainly focussed in their use as tough ceramics such as sialons and interstitial nitride coatings on metals [368,369]. Silicon oxynitride glasses are of importance in fiber optics as their refractive indices depend on the nitrogen content. There are surely other interesting properties awaiting exploration. [Pg.349]

The in-vivo wear performance of prosthetic femoral heads with titanium nitride coating. Biomaterials, 21 (9), 907-913. [Pg.39]
