NERI data 1952-1977 included in BALTIC atlas exceed significantly the data set Denmark is regularly delivering to the ICES database. 

Up to 1974, hydrographic data were collected with reversing water bottles and thermometers, and titration of chlorinity for salinity, using certified standard seawater as the reference. From 1974, temperature and salinity profiles were measured with CTD, but up to 1988, nutrient samples were still collected with reversing water bottles. From 1988, CTD-Rosette samplers have been used. An overview of the NERI devices, methods, and uncertainties is given in Table 11.8.

Some investigators have carried out preliminary studies on 3D reconstructions of the collecting system with surface rendering of MRU data sets (Nolte-Ernsting et al. 1999 Neri et al. 2000). Experiences with 3D volume-rendered CT of the kidney donors (Dachman et al. 1998) have also been reported, which aimed to provide an accurate anatomical assessment before surgery. 

The dilatation of the urinary tract is prerequisite for generating virtual endoscopy of static-fluid MRU data sets, since the dilatation of the ureter or renal pelvis increases the availability of bright image pixels and, consequently, the voxels that VE can use to reconstruct the lumen in three dimensions and to create the virtual space for endoscopic navigation. The feasibility of virtual endoscopy with MRU has been proposed both with and without gadolinium (Nolte-Ernsting et al. 1999 Neri et al. 2000). 

The 1974—1975 Silver Valley study data are summarized in Table 23.1. Data are presented as they were gathered in 1974, before emission control systems were restored. Geometric mean PbB values varied with distance of child residences from the smelter emission points but varied only moderately with age of the children. Unlike other Pb exposure scenarios, those based on smelter emissions indicated that excessive exposures persisted into later years. The Silver Valley findings are consistent with findings elsewhere (Neri et al., 1978). Urban children exposed to lead paint more typically show peak PbB values at 2—3 years of age followed by a marked decline. In Area I, with homes within 1 mile of the facility, PbB varied from 75 p.g/dl...
