Only a few drugs have been identified as being capable of inducing autoimmune phenomena in mice. Among these are D-penicillamine, quinidine, streptozotocin (an anti-neoplastic drug that is also used as a model compound to induce diabetes) and procainamide. 

Treatment of cancer includes surgical intervention, radiation, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy using neoplastic drugs. Chemotherapy is currently used in addition to surgical intervention in order to remove possible metastatic cells that still remain. Moreover, some types of tumors are currently treated first with chemotherapeutic agents. 

Doxorubicin is one of the most effective neoplastic drugs, and is mainly used in combination with other drugs for treating solid tumors.

Many of the anti-neoplastic drugs currently available on the market specifically target the cancerous tumor and do not account for the overall heterogeneity of the disease. It is reasonable to assume that due to the complex make-up of a tumor, combined therapies may be necessary to treat the different cell types involved.
