Withdraw sample from the upper and lower ports of the sample container in intervals specified in the sampling schedule using an appropriately sized syringe and needle. 

Polymerizations were carried out in 8-ounce glass bottles with metal caps containing self-sealing butyl rubber gaskets. The capped bottles with their contents were rotated end-oyer-end at 45 rpm at 50°C. in a thermostatted water-bath. Samples for conyersion and for particle size measurements were withdrawn at regular time interyals using hypodermic needle and syringe. Hydroquinone was used as a shortstop. 

The device will work with all required syringe and needle sizes. 

An HPTC injector allows the introduction of a precise sample volume onto the column. A typical manual injector consists of a 6-port valve with a rotor, a sample loop and a needle port (Eigure 9). A sample solution is introduced into the sample loop using a 22-gauge blunt tip syringe in the TOAD position. The sample is then injected into the column by switching the valve to INJECT. The typical external sample loop size ranges from 6 pT to 2 mT. For many years, the Rheodyne 7125 injector was the industry-standard. In the early 1990s, it was replaced by the Rheodyne 7725 injector, which injects samples without momentary flow disruptions. ... 

Microliter syringes, such as that in Figure 2-13, come in sizes from 1 to 500 p.L and have an accuracy and precision near 1%. When using a syringe, take up and discard several volumes of liquid to wash the glass walls and to remove air bubbles from the barrel. The steel needle is attacked by strong acid and will contaminate strongly acidic solutions with iron. 

The size of the syringe should be selected so that enough material can be withdrawn in one single step to allow accurate determination of both droplet size and concentration. Although the vertical introduction of the needle prevents undesirable horizontal mixing, multiple withdrawals of sample may affect the population that is present within each vial. 

To facilitate multiple subcutaneous injections of insulin, particularly during intensive insulin therapy, portable pen-sized injectors have been developed. These contain cartridges of insulin and replaceable needles. Disposable insulin pens are also available for selected formulations. These include regular insulin, insulin lispro, insulin aspart, NPH insulin, and premixed 70%/30% and 50%/50% NPH/regular, 75% NPL/25% lispro, 50% NPL/50% lispro, and 70% NPA/30% aspart insulin. They have been well accepted by patients because they eliminate the need to carry syringes and bottles of insulin to the workplace and while traveling. 

Intralesional injections. Small gauge needles can be used on syringes to inject drugs into a neoplasm or other raised abnormality affecting a defined area of the skin. The volume used will depend upon the size and number of lesions being treated. 

For long-term storage, the septum should be secured with copper wire and for extra protection another septum of the same size, without any needle holes in it, can be pulled over the first (Fig. 6. lb and c). The second septum is removed before syringing liquid from the vessel. It is also a good idea to wrap parafilm around the septum, especially if the bottle is to be stored in the refrigerator. Moisture sensitive reagents can be added to the vessel by cannulation as described below. 

Both types of micro syringe are available with either fixed or removable needles, but the type with removable needles are generally preferred. Removable needles have the advantages that they can be replaced when damaged or blocked and that different sizes can be fitted. Long needles for micro syringes normally have to be ordered specially.
