N-hexanoic acid

Mixture of 62.82% dipropylene glycol, 21.18% mercaptoacetic acid, 6% n-hexanoic acid, 6% N-methyl morpholine, 2.18% p-cresyl isovalerate, 0.91% 2-naphthalenethiol, and 0.91% skatole. [Pg.456]

Namely, the reaction of 2-thioxothiazolidin-4-one N-hexanoic acid (116) with 2,5-dimethyl-l-phenylpyrrol-3-carboxaldehyde (117) in methanol under the catalytic action of ethylenediamine diacetate (EDDA) yields 5-[(2,5-dimethyl-l-phenylpyrrol-3-yl)methylidene]-2-thioxothiazolidin-4-one N-hexanoic acid (118) in 79% yield. The hydroxamate derivative of 118 is prepared by reacting this compound with 0-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)hydroxylamine followed by treatment with p-toluenesulfonic acid in methanol to afford compound 121 in 60% yield. Esterification of compound 118 is carried out by using methyl iodide in acetonitrile in the presence of sodium carbonate to give compound 120. The 5-(cyclohexyl)methylidene analogue (119) is obtained in 42% yield by direct reaction of compound 116 with cyclohexanecar-boxaldehyde in methanol under the catalytic action of EDDA. [Pg.202]

The aliphatic acids isolated from a California crude petroleum by Lochte and coworkers (31) include 2-methylpentanoic acid, 3-methylpentanoic acid, n-hexanoic acid, 2-methylhexanoic acid, 3-methylhexanoic acid, 4-methylhexanoic acid, 5-methylhexanoic acid, n-heptanoic acid, n-octanoic acid, and n-nonanoic acid. [Pg.338]

Versatic acid has been used in Japan to recover indium and gallium from solutions obtained from the leaching of bauxites, zinc minerals, coal ash and flue dusts.40 41-63 Extraction is carried out at a pH value of 2.5 to 4.0 some coextraction of tin(II), iron(III) and aluminum(III) occurs if these metals are present. In the extraction of indium(III) by n-hexanoic acid,64 the predominant species in the organic phase was found to be InA3(HA)3 whereas in the extraction by n-decanoic acid65 the existence of trimeric (InA3-HA)3 and hexameric [InA2(OH)]g species was also postulated. [Pg.791]

In addition, n-hexanoic acid, methyl (X)-7-hexadecenoate and 4-hydroxyhexanoic acid lactone (T-caprolactone) (XV) have been identified as part of the sex attractant blend. All of these compounds are individually active. [Pg.213]
