MPEG poly(ethylene oxide) monomethyl ether... [Pg.3]

MonomethoxyPEG-polyalanine (mPEG-PA), polyalanine-Poloxamer-polyalanine (PA-PLX-PA) and mPEG-poly(Ala-co-Phe) (mPEG-PAF) were reported as thermogelling polypeptides. As the temperature increased, /3-sheet conformation was partially strengthened and PEG dehydrated. The secondary stmcture of polypeptides plays a role in driving the sol-to-gel transition. [Pg.329]

As a result, random and/or block copolymers were obtained. Aluminum alkoxides and/or Sn(Oct)2 were usually applied as initiators. In some cases, polymerization of cyclic phosphates was initiated by hydroxy-terminated compounds dodecanol, MPEG, poly-L-lactide (PLLA), and poly(8-caprolactone) (PCL) with Sn(Oct)2 as the catalyst. [Pg.489]

Uchegbu and coworkers have studied the complexation and delivery of DNA using a unique poly(amino acid)-based polymer vesicle. A polymer of either poly (L-lysine) or poly(L-omithine) was functionalized with methoxy-poly(ethylene glycol) (mPEG) and hydrophobic palmitic acid chains to synthesize an amphiphilic triblock of either mPEG-6-poly(L-lysine)-6-palmitoyl or mPEG-Z>-poly(L-omithine)-6-palmitoyl. Vesicles formed from these polymers were complexed with DNA and showed improved transfection in vitro over poly(amino acid) complexed with DNA or DNA alone [82]. [Pg.130]

Methoxy poly(ethyleneglycol) (mPEG) was the most frequently used semitelechelic polymer for over 2 decades. It has been successfully used for the modification of various proteins, biomedical surfaces and hydrophobic anticancer drugs (for reviews see References [3,9,10]. Recently, a number of new semitelechelic (ST) polymers, such as ST-poly(A -isopropylacry-lamide) (ST-PNIPAAM) [11-15], ST-poly(4-acryloylmorpholine) (ST-PAcM) [16], ST-poly(A-vinylpyrrolidone) (ST-PVP) [17], and ST-poly[A-(2-hydroxypropyl)methacrylamide] (ST-PHPMA) [18-21] have been prepared and shown to be effective in the modification of proteins or biomedical surfaces. [Pg.13]

Indotricarbo cyanine dye derivatives with substantially increased molecular weight were designed by attaching monocarboxylated versions of the chro-mophore to either methoxy(poly ethylenejglycols (MPEGs) of different molecular... [Pg.11]

Torchilin et al. synthesized an iodine-containing amphiphilic block-copolymer consisting of iodine-substituted poly-L-lysine which is able to form micelles in aqueous solution [37]. The two components of the block-copolymer were methoxy-poly(ethylene glycol) propionic acid (MPEG-PA) with a molecular weight of 12 kDa and poly[ ,M-(2,3,5-triiodobenzoyl)]-L-lysine. The particle size of the micelles was approx. 80 nm, and the iodine concentration was 20 mg mL . Biodistribution studies in rats showed significant and prolonged enhancement of the aorta, the liver and spleen. [Pg.180]

Encapsulation and delivery of DNA has also been investigated with poly(amino acid) (poly(AA)) based polymer vesicles. Brown and coworkers synthesized an amphiphilic triblock copolymer from methoxy-poly(ethylene glycol) (mPEG), hydrophobic palmitic acid chains in block segments along a poly-L-lysine (PLL) or... [Pg.152]

Nonlinear, dendritic or hyperbranched polymers have received considerable attention in recent years. These polymers have seen little use as supports for oligosaccharide synthesis compared to Merrifield or soluble MPEG resins. Nevertheless, some interesting applications of hyperbranched polymers such as hyperbranched polyester and poly(amidoamine) to oligsaccharide synthesis have been reported. [Pg.591]
