Molded shapes

PCTFE plastic is available in products that conform to ASTM 1430-89 Type 1 (Grades 1 and 2) and is suitable for processing into parts that meet MIL-P 46036 (Federal Specification LP-385C was canceled 1988). Standards for fabricated forms are available for compression molded heavy sections (AMS-3645 Class C), thin-walled tubing, rod, sheet, and molded shapes (AMS-3650). PCTFE plastics have been approved for use in contact with food by the FDA (55). [Pg.394]

The rapid development of many processible conducting polymers that can now be obtained as films, fibers, and molded shapes, suggests that they will be quite useful in a number of appHcations. One of the concerns presendy being addressed is the stabiUty of the conductive polymers during these specific uses. [Pg.43]

Thermoforming of extmded sheet is achieved by warming the sheet to its glass-transition poiat and coUapsiag it over a mold shape (21). The coUapse can be effected by vacuum suction or pressures appHed on the sheet above the mold. This technique is used to make trays and profiled advertisiag signs. Both single- and multilayer sheets can be used. [Pg.263]

Examples of different blow molded shapes are shown in Figs. 8-45 to 8-48. [Pg.490]

There are many ways in which foams can be processed and used as slabs, blocks, boards, sheets, molded shapes, sprayed coatings, extruded profiles, foamed in place in existing cavities, in which the liquid material is poured and allowed to foam, and as structural foams (Chapter 6, STRUCTURAL FOAM). Conventional equipment such as extruders, injection, or compression machines is used. However specially designed machines are available to just produce foamed products. [Pg.496]

A brief patent by Smith115 reports the Pt-catalyzed ring-opening polymerization of 1,3-disilacyclobutane in heptane or toluene to produce a linear PSE structure which, when pyrolyzed to 900 °C, gave SiC in 85% ceramic yield. The patent claims that the PSE can be processed and then pyrolyzed to give SiC fibers, films and molded shapes. However, neither the syntheses of 1,3-disilacyclobutane (from l,l,3,3-tetrachloro-l,3-disilacyclobutane, Scheme 11) or PSE, nor ceramic product characterization (beyond brief IR claims) are provided. [Pg.2283]

The ideal parison with a constant wall thickness is not necessarily the optimum for BM. Even simple molded shapes encompass considerable variations in their profile. For example, the body of a bottle is much greater in diameter than the neck. For some containers, there may be... [Pg.291]

There is the dip casting process, also called dip coating or dip molding. It is a process of submerging a hot molded shape, usually metal, into a fluid plastic. After removal and cooling, the product around the mold is removed from the mold. [Pg.397]

The closed mold shapes the material usually by heat and pressure. With special additives the TS material can cure at room temperature. It would have a time limit (pot life) prior to curing and hardening. Based on the compound s preparation, sufficient time is allowed to store and handle the compound prior to its chemical reaction curing action occurring (Chapter 14). [Pg.476]

The resulting raw material, in the form of beads or granules, is called expandable polystyrene (EPS). The usual procedure is for the EPS beads or granules to be prepared in one location and transported to other locations, where they are expanded and/or molded into their final forms. This process has inherent advantages the costs of shipping the voluminous foam is minimized and intricate molding shapes can be molded directly without postprocessing. [Pg.165]

Copper electrorefining plays a major role in the production and recycling of copper. In the production of copper, copper-bearing sulfide concentrates are first smelted to copper matte. The molten matte is oxidized to blister copper by a Peirce-Smith converter and the blister copper is fire refined and cast to copper anodes. Blister copper contains about 99% copper and impurities such as arsenic, bismuth, iron, nickel, lead, antimony, selenium, tellurium, and precious metals. It is cast into flat anodes, most often on a rotating horizontal wheel. The mold shape includes lugs by which the anodes are... [Pg.187]
