On sites where mobile machinery such as tippers, diggers, rough terrain trucks, etc. are used, special care should be taken to ensure that operators are fully aware of the stability of their machines and of the maximum slope on which they can be safely used. Particular attention should be paid to the condition of the ground and whether it is capable of bearing the vehicle weight. Information on safe ground conditions and angles of tilt can be obtained from the machine manufacturers. 

In vehicles and mobile machinery in which an operator is seated, the springing and damping of the seating should be adjustable so that it can be set up to minimize the vibration transmitted from the terrain or from the work, e.g. rock drilling.

It is important to consider the fundamental properties of tires used by automobiles, trucks, tractors, off-road construction equipment, and other mobile machinery. It is interesting to note that the leatho -covered pneumatic tire was invented in 1845 by Robert W. Thonq>son. John B. Dunlop among others improved on Thompson s invention and in 1895 pneumatic tires appeared on automobiles.

If any special machinery is to be transferred with the product then a specialist must check the age, state of repair and mobility of this equipment and that the final delivery facility has the capacity to contain it. During one acquisition, the head of manufacturing was only just in time in noticing that the incoming machines were actually half a metre taller than the headroom in the facility where they were due to be delivered and as a result the manufacturing had to be re-sited, and this brought unbudgeted costs.
