Mixtures manufacture

Section 12 - describes the EPA s authority regarding chemical substances and mixtures manufactured for export. [Pg.86]

And so they mixed more mixtures Manufactured variations. [Pg.299]

Title I - Control of Toxic Substances - includes provisions for testing chemical substances and mixtures, manufacturing and processing notices, regulating hazardous chemical substances and mixtures, managing imminent hazards, and reporting and retaining information. [Pg.23]

According to J. Taylor and Gay [4] this is probably due to a relatively high rate of detonation of mixtures manufactured in an edge-runner mill. The influence of edge-runner mixing on rate of detonation has already been discussed. [Pg.464]

The abovementioned materials can be mixed with one another. A series of other polymers and resins can also be added if the substances listed in 1 to 4 form the bulk of the material. Additional materials are PE, PP, low molecular weight polyolefins, polyterpenes (mixtures of aliphatic and cycloaliphatic hydrocarbons produced by polymerisation of terpene hydrocarbons), polyisobutylene, butyl rubber, dammar gum, glycerine and pentaerythritol esters of rosin acid and their hydration products, polyolefin resins, hydrated polycyclopentadiene resin (substance mixtures manufactured by thermal polymerization of a mixture mainly composed of di-cyclopentadiene with methylcyclopentadiene, isoprene and piperylene which is then hydrogenated). [Pg.47]

Properties Soluble in acetone, which is used for colliding the above mixture. Manufactured in form of cords. [Pg.51]

The estimated growth rate to the year 2000 for total MDI is 4—5% in the United States and 6% globally. In 1987 and 1988 U.S. plants were estimated to be 96 and 97% utilized (39). Additional capacities of over 400,000 t by the end of 1993 have already been announced (40—44). Approximately 20% of the total MDI manufactured in the United States is exported (38,39,45). Of the 500,000 t of PMDI mixtures manufactured annually in the United States it is estimated that only 75,000—100,000 t are sold as 4,4LMDI. The current bulk selling price for 4,4 -MDI is 2.75/kg and for PMDI 2.20. The 4,4 MDA sells for 5.00—6.50/kg and cmde PMDA is 2.90—3.25/kg. Approximately 450—900 t of pure 4,4 -MDA are imported (46,47), MDA and PMDA products are sold commercially imder the names of MDA (BASF), Araldite Hardener (CIBA-GEIGY), Curithane (Dow), Ancamine (Pacific Anchor), andTONOX (Unicoyal). [Pg.250]

Consider a cake mixture, manufactured, let us say, with four ingredients wheat flour, sugar, eggs and margarine. When the cook makes the cake, he has to add milk, adjust the temperature of the oven and control the baking time. These factors also affect the flnal result, but are beyond the manufacturer s control, no matter how explicit be the instructions printed on the mixture package. [Pg.176]

The basic building blocks for polyurethanes are polyisocyanates and macroglycols, also called polyols. The commonly used polyisocyanates are tolylene-diisocyanate (TDI), diphenyimethane diisocyanate or methylenediphenyl isocyanate (MDl), and polymeric methylenediphenyl isocyanate (PMDI) mixtures manufactured by phosgenating aromatic polyamines derived fi-om the acid-catalyzed condensation of aniline and formaldehyde. MDl and PMDI are produced by the same reaction, and separation of MDl is achieved by distillation. The synthetic routes in the manufacture of commercial polyisocyanates are summarized in Figme 4.28. [Pg.478]

The essence of TSCA 8(c) is recordkeeping and a firm subject to the requirements of this rule is required to establish and maintain records of significant adverse reactions alleged to have been caused by chemical substances or mixtures manufactured or processed by the firm. All records are to be maintained together at the firm s headquarters or any such other appropriate location central to the firm s chemical operations. ... [Pg.225]

Chemical substances, mixtures, or articles containing substances or mixtures manufactured, processed or distributed in commerce solely for export and labeled for export only are generally exempt from the provisions of TSCA. This exemption does not apply (i) to 8 reporting and recordkeeping requirements, (ii) if the EPA determines that the chemical substance, mixtures or article will present an unreasonable risk of injury to health or the environment in the United States, or (iii) if the EPA determines it requires testing to make the determination in sub provision (ii) above. An export notice will also not be required for chemicals denied entry into the United States that are being returned to the country of origin, unless a TSCA 5, 6, or 7 rule or order applies to the chemical. ... [Pg.274]

Zoxamide consists of two enantiomers however, its biological activity is due almost entirely to the S-enantiomer [23]. Although more active than the racemic mixture, manufacture and sale of the purified S-enantiomer was not economically attractive. Consequently, the commercial product is currently sold as the racemic mixture. [Pg.586]

Apart from the reaction of ettringite formation, the CaO and MgO are also applied as expansive components. The technology with CaO application, is more developed, particularly in Japan. In order to avoid the unfavorable properties of CaO, dne to its rapid or retarded hydration, the methods consisting in the anhydrite or C3S mixture manufacturing, as the matrix with calcium oxide inclusions, were developed. Dissolution or hydration of the matrix causes the gradual exposure of CaO crystals, which then can react with water. Kawano et al. [54] invented the... [Pg.620]
