The electronic structure of the spinel type compound NiCo204 has been investigated by XANES, EXAFS, and Ni Mdssbauer studies. On the basis of the derived cation valencies, the octahedral and tetrahedral site occupancies as well as the formula in standard notation for spinel compounds could be delineated [25].

Three bound Fe-S centres have been proposed to be the next acceptors (see Refs. 29, 48 and 49 for reviews), on the basis of optical and EPR spectroscopy and Mdssbauer studies. The stable, one-electron acceptor of PS I is a soluble Fe-S protein, ferredoxin (Fd) [50], of molecular weight of 10 kDa and = -440 mV. So, PS I transfers electrons against an apparent electrochemical gradient of ca. 0.9 V. 

While MOssbauer spectra of a number of solid organotin compounds provided useful information on their electronic states and structures, no Mdssbauer study of matrix-isolated organotin compounds has been conducted to date. We have recently started Mdssbauer-, IR-, and UV studies on Photochemistry of alkyltin chlorides isolated in low temperature matrices and obtained preliminary results (24).

Oxidation of [RujOjfNHa), ] or [Ru302CNH3),o(en)2] with HCl in air, or by CI2 water gives the [4,3,4] " analogue ruthenium brown. Mdssbauer studies on the 6+ and 7-f- ions are in agreement with linear structures for these complexes. The resonance Raman spectra of ruthenium red and brown and of their en analogues have been reported. Ruthenium brown is reduced by OH in a second order reaction with rate constant k=. 9 x 10 s mor, = 79.5kJmol ,... 

Complexes of CIF3 and BiPa with SnP4 were studied by Mdssbauer effect. The presence of quadrupole splitting rules out the possibility of an octahedral symmetry for SnFg It is more likely of a stmcture of a tetragonal bipyramid, D411, in i ch two fluorines in tram positions are coordinated to two separate cations i ). Another study reported some data of Au Mdssbauer study of BrEjAuF "... 

Mossbauer spectroscopy has been used to study a number of halogen-containing compounds of telluritun in which the formal oxidation state of tellurium is II (see also LB), IV or VI The knowledge of the existence of tellurium subhalides with low formal oxidation states of the chalcogen gave rise to Te-125 Mossbauer investigations of the subhalides, and additionally to 1-129 Mdssbauer studies on a-Tel...
