Preference estimate Multiple regression techniques on the survey data are used to estimate the relative importance of each attribute level. CA allows estimation of the relative importance of each attribute such that the utility differences and values across all profiles can be evaluated. Several BR metrics can be derived such as minimum acceptable benefit for a given level of risk and maximum acceptable risk for a given level of benefit, net effective margin, and net safety margin, to be used in BRA.

Inventory indicators are of key interest for planners. Higher inventory on the one hand ensures delivery capability and hedges the risk of volatile procurement prices on the other hand, high inventories increase the capital employed and the capital costs. While transportation quantities are a result of distribution balances, inventory quantities can vary between minimum and maximum bandwidth boundaries. The relative inventory level IL1 measures the percentage of the total inventory ending quantity compared to the total absolute maximum bandwidth inventory. 

It is now usual to calculate the effective dose equivalent (Appendix 1.2). The dose equivalent measured in Sieverts (Sv), takes into account the relative biological efficiency of different radiations. For gamma and beta radiation, the conversion factor is unity, but for alpha radiation it is 20. The effective dose equivalent allows also for the relative importance of irradiation of various organs to the risk of cancer. To convert thyroid dose from beta particles, measured in Gy, to effective dose equivalent, a factor 0.03 is applied. Thus the maximum thyroid doses estimated by Loutit et al. correspond to effective dose equivalents of 4.8 mSv (child) and 1.2 mSv (adult). Adding the external whole body gamma radiation, for which the conversion factor is unity, gives 5.4 mSv (child) and 1.8 mSv (adult).
