Material Safety Data Sheet system

Implied is the availability of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all products handled by the toller. The assessor should question the distribution system of product information. 

Additional information may be had on storage of chemicals from several sources. Material Safety Data Sheets, for example, have specific instructions with regard to storage. The local fire inspector will have good suggestions, and much can be found in reference books. Above all, the laboratory operator should throughly familiarize himself with all chemicals to be used in order to develop a safe storage system.

First, the low boiling point (37 C) can lead to handling difficulty. Do not allow the material to get into the groundwater or sewerage system. Disposal should be carried out according to the local regulations. Material safety data sheets should always be referred to before using any product. 

The Hazardous Products Act. (R.S., 1985, c. H-3) This act prohibits advertising, sale, and import of hazardous products. It requires Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for chemicals. It also allows inspection of facilities for compliance.

More detailed information may also be provided to those exposed to hazardous chemicals. In the workplace, for example, material safety data sheets (MSDSs) may be available. In the transport sector, a document such as the North American Emergency Response Guidebook may supplement the information on placards or markings. The details on these information documents vary from system to system for the same chemical.
