Construct a profit payoff matrix between two firms making Delos (see Section 2.2.3). Firm X has a 30,000-liter reactor and firm Y a 50,000-liter reactor. Let the price be set at three different levels. Estimate the market shares, production levels, and profits of the two firms. Is there a dominant optimal strategy or a mixed optimal strategy ... [Pg.353]

MAG (Massive Artificial Graphite) from Hitachi Chemical Co. Ltd., Japan is one of the most commonly used synthetic graphite in LL-ion batteries since it occupies 70% market share of the cellular phones in Japan to date. MAG particles abound in pores (fine canals) to access the electrolyte solution, thus facilitate the LC movement in the electrode matrix. If the electrolyte solution contains functional addives, stable and safe interface layer is formed elesewhere of inside the MAG particles. Details of MAG can be found in Chapter 18. [Pg.69]

Risk mapping is a subjective process where the risks are broadly classified based on risk occurrence and risk impact. Risk occurrence measures the likelihood of that risk event happening and is subjectively assessed as high or low. Risk impact is used as an all-embracing term that covers financial loss, market share, stock prices, etc. Risk impact is also assessed subjectively as high or low. Based on the assessment of risk occurrence and risk impact, a 2 x 2 matrix of risk map can be constructed as shown in Figure 7.1 (Elkins et al., 2008a). [Pg.370]

The product portfolio analysis has two different indicators market share and market growth. Products are placed within this matrix according to these indicators. The optimal strategies can be depicted from the matrix, in which case the... [Pg.36]

The primary weakness that still plagues this product is poor emulsion stability in final applications. The materials used in encapsulation generally have no inherent emulsification properties (exceptions would be when modified starches or gum Arabic is used as a wall component) and the emulsion must be formed in an exceptionally viscous matrix. Both factors work against forming a small enough emulsion size to yield a stable emulsion in a finished product, i.e., beverage. Nevertheless, major improvements have been made in this process that lower costs and improve performance. Thus, flavorings produced in this manner will likely have increased market share in the future. [Pg.382]

Biofibers and wood fibers start to degrade at 2(X)°C, and, therefore only resins that are processable at temperatures less than 200°C are used as matrix polymers for WPCs. Thermoplastics used in these applications are various grades of PE, PP, PS, PVC and ABS [46,47]. About 80% of the market is dominated by polyolefins, but PVC is likely to gain an increasing market share. A significant portion of the matrix material in WPCs is post-consumer recycled... [Pg.646]

Finally, it is worthwhile recognizing that the commonly used matrix polymers (polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyvinyl chloride) in WPC are currently non-biobased and nonbiodegradable in nature. The positive aspect of this scenario, however, is the opportunity of incorporating durable but ultimately biodegradable polymers into the composites, which are increasing in market share. [Pg.476]

The ER formulations provide therapeutic benefits such as improved efficacy and reduced side effects with reduced frequency of administration and, therefore, better patient compliance, and retain market share for the manufacturer [2-5], Among ER formulations, matrix systems remain the most popular approach from the economics... [Pg.23]

Currendy, epoxy resins (qv) constitute over 90% of the matrix resin material used in advanced composites. The total usage of advanced composites is expected to grow to around 45,500 t by the year 2000, with the total resin usage around 18,000 t in 2000. Epoxy resins are expected to stiH constitute about 80% of the total matrix-resin-systems market in 2000. The largest share of the remaining market will be divided between bismaleimides and polyimide systems (12 to 15%) and what are classified as other polymers, including thermoplastics and thermoset resins other than epoxies, bismaleimides, cyanate esters, and polyimide systems (see Composites,polymer-matrix-thermoplastics). [Pg.19]

Silver-based biocides are also gaining a share in plastics markets, especially in Japan, where silver ions supported in inorganic matrix/substrates (such as zeolites or alumina-silica), are often used in hospital settings. Silver-nanoparticle-coated PU foams have been shown to be effective antibacterial water filters [46]. [Pg.56]

Fritted micronutrients (frits) are glassy products in. which solubility is controlled by particle size and matrix composition. Frits generally are used only on sandy soils in regions of high rainfall where leaching occurs. This class of micronutrients is more suited for maintenance programs than for correcting severe micronutrient deficiencies. Therefore, frits have only a very small share of the market. [Pg.461]
