Management balance

Risk management is the process of deciding what to do to reduce a known or suspected risk. Risk management balances the various community demands with the scientific information generated from the risk assessment. Public perception of risk is also considered. Table 19.2 characterizes some of the factors that influence perception of risk. An individual s perception of risk is sometimes very different from a risk... [Pg.243]

The project manager needs to control the balance of effort to create the most effective and efficient project. The project manager balances resources, effort, energy, cost, and schedule. The project manager establishes the graded environment that maintains compliance and meets the objectives of the project, but also balances the requirements with the cost and schedule constraints. [Pg.609]

Maintenance costs influence the bottom line of every balance sheet. As a result, maintenance managers can improve the entire faciHty by helping make sure that the planning and design of new constmction and renovation projects takes place with maintenance in mind (1). [Pg.442]

It shows concisely the existing vendor capacities for the raw material, planned expansions or new producers, demands for other uses, and demand within the analyst s company. In some cases, the report includes a wodd supply and demand balance. A key objective of a purchase profile report is to make the buyer as well informed as the marketing manager of the seller. If this is achieved, the buyer can often secure a beneficial purchase contract. [Pg.538]

The use of the computer in the design of chemical processes requires a framework for depiction and computation completely different from that of traditional CAD/CAM appHcations. Eor this reason, most practitioners use computer-aided process design to designate those approaches that are used to model the performance of individual unit operations, to compute heat and material balances, and to perform thermodynamic and transport analyses. Typical process simulators have, at their core, techniques for the management of massive arrays of data, computational engines to solve sparse matrices, and unit-operation-specific computational subroutines. [Pg.64]

Types of Accountancy The traditional work of accountants has been to prepare balance sheets and income statements. Nowadays, accountants are becoming increasingly concerned with foi ward planning. Modern accountancy can roughly be divided into two branches, financial accountancy and management or cost accountancy. [Pg.839]

Management and Cost Aeeounting In any given time period, cost may be divided into expired and unexpired cost. An expired cost is an expense an unexpired cost is an asset. This division is the basis for income statements and balance sheets. [Pg.846]

Since ratios, like balance sheets, refer to a particiilar point in time, they have a hmited use unless they are compared with previous values. A study of ratio trends indicates whether or not a company is approaching a working-capital or a hquidity crisis and may enable management to compare the performance of the company with that of competitors. [Pg.851]

After the balance sheet and the income statement or profit-and-loss account, the funds statement is generally regarded as the most important financial document. However, many financial managers regard a statement showing changes in cash as being of equal importance. [Pg.851]

The availability of resources to perform the analysis is the primary constraint on the completeness of QRAs. Managers must balance the value of QRA results in their decision making against the cost of obtaining these results. It has been shown repeatedly that, when properly... [Pg.8]

The balance of our discussions focus on the pollution prevention technologies for sludge management and use. When you surf the Internet or look at some of the technical and trade journal references, you will more commonly see these subjects referred to as sludge and biosolids resuse. [Pg.571]
