Figure 6.1 shows a supply-chain view of the aircraft service activities. Data are tracked in two separate databases Aviation Computerized Maintenance System (ACMS) and Aviation Maintenance Management System (AMMIS). The ACMS database stores individual part-level serial number tracking and history of repairs and planned maintenance. The AMMIS database tracks flow of the broken part as it is repaired. The most important KPl within maintenance management is Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). OLE is a KPl for visualizing losses within availability, performance and quality for production machines. By visualizing the size of these losses, OEE reveals the improvement potential. The figure is calculated by multiplying availability rate, performance rate and quality rate (Koch 2007). [Pg.554]

A preventive maintenance program can be developed for any industrial function that has a maintenance component. The same principles used in the truck operator example in this chapter can be used for other mobile equipment, machinery, or process maintenance (see Figure A.3). It matters little the type of maintenance. It is more important that the workers, operators, supervisors, and management realize that the care taken in prevention will pay dividends in cost savings, accident costs, less equipment damage, and better overall working conditions and employee attitudes. Care of your physical assets (physical plant, vehicles, machinery, etc.) is critical to the bottom line. Of iqtecial impmtance is the notion of composition of operations. An operation in the composite class may be implemented in terms of operations of its component classes. For example, in figure 12 the operation "Maintenance.Repair is implemented in terms of dix operations of its component classes. Five from the planner agent ("Estimate", "Resource ldentify", "Schedule", "Prt )ose" and "Refo ") and one from the maintenance management system object in figure 8 (Daily Scheduled Work). [Pg.91]
