Eor EOD disks with 86 mm (3.5 in.) diameter and for Sony s Mini-Disk (67 mm diameter), modified BPA-PC is used exclusively for EOD disks with 130 mm diameter, modified BPA-PC (mainly) as well as glass (eg. Philips, Hitachi) are used. [Pg.163]

Now for Philip Brown s main (by our reckoning) result when he used the wavelengths of minimum nonlinearity to perform the calibration at, he found that he was indeed able to extrapolate the calibration. Repeat under circumstances where the effects of data nonlinearity (from all sources) are minimized, he was able to extrapolate the calibration. [Pg.467]

Chemical composition was determined by elemental analysis, by means of a Varian Liberty 200 ICP spectrometer. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) patterns were collected on a Philips PW 1820 powder diffractometer, using the Ni-filtered C Ka radiation (A, = 1.5406 A). BET surface area and pore size distribution were determined from N2 adsorption isotherms at 77 K (Thermofinnigan Sorptomatic 1990 apparatus, sample out gassing at 573 K for 24 h). Surface acidity was analysed by microcalorimetry at 353 K, using NH3 as probe molecule. Calorimetric runs were performed in a Tian-Calvet heat flow calorimeter (Setaram). Main physico-chemical properties and the total acidity of the catalysts are reported in Table 1. [Pg.358]

Isobutylene (Philips Research Grade) was purified as described [17] by distillation on a vacuum line through a trap containing sodium at 350 °C. It was stored as liquid on a sodium mirror. Solutions in methyl bromide were made up by distilling the required quantities of solvent and isobutylene from hanging burettes along a vacuum line into a reservoir with Teflon tap, which was subsequently cut from the vacuum line and fused to a burette with Teflon tap which was then fused to the main vacuum manifold as shown in Figure 1. [Pg.299]

This is mainly the work of Philip Warner who also (cf. Ref. 44) appears to have been introduced into the field of propellanes by Saul Winstein in work concerned with the protonation of l,6-methano[10]annulene, work in which they ruled out the presence of a propellane-type cation". ... [Pg.1205]

Two other quartz glass tubes with diameters of 230 and 244 mm are mounted (concentrically one within the other) and centrally within the inner main reactor cylinder. The smaller of these central tubes contains 12 photolysis lamps. The lamps are of 2 types 6 Philips TLA 40W (300 < A, < 450 nm A ax = 360 nm) and 6 Philips TUV 40W (main emission at A = 254 nm). The area between the glass cylinders can be cooled either by flowing coolant or dry air. [Pg.226]

Prior to the introduction of PET/CT, multimodahty images were fused by the algorithm technique that was limited mainly to the brain. In 1999, GE Healthcare introduced the first PET/CT, called the Hawkeye, using a dualhead Nal(Tl) camera and a low-energy CT scanner, followed later in 2001 by the Discovery LS (GE Healthcare). Since then, manufacturers such as Siemens, GE, and Philips have brought a variety of much improved PET/CT units into the market. The physical features of a few PET/CT scanners are listed in Table 2.3 and a typical PET/CT scanner is shown in Fig.2.9. [Pg.34]

Steady state concentrations of adenosine are maintained through the activities of only three enzymes, 5 -nucleotidase (5 -N), adenosine kinase and adenosine deaminase. Adenosine kinase and adenosine deaminase were located mainly in the soluble fractions of rat cerebellar homogenates, whereas 5 -N was present in subcellular fractions (Philips and Newsholme, 1979), mainly in the synaptosomal fraction (Marani, 1977). Adenosine deaminase-immunoreactivity in rat cerebellum was present with one out of five polyclonal sera prepared by Nagy et ah (1988). Staining was present in most Purkinje cells with a variation in intensity. Staining was observed in the Purkinje cell axons and terminals in the cerebellar and vestibular nuclei. The localization of 5 -N will be discussed below. [Pg.78]

The main suppliers for AMR elements suited for automotive applications are Honeywell (HMC series) and Philips (KMI and KMZ series). Smaller companies, such as HL Planartechnik and Sensitec, both in Germany, also deliver application-specific AMR sensors. [Pg.177]

Many thanks to Peter Godfrey-Smith, Michael Strevens, Anthony Everett, and Deena Skolnick who helped me to clarify the main ideas of this paper tremendously. I would also like to thank Philip Kitcher, Sandra Mitchell, Paul Churchland, Roald Hoffmann, John Brauman, Paul Needham, Tania Lombrozo, and Daniel Corbett for helpful discussions of earlier drafts. The work in this paper was partially supported by an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. [Pg.344]

The samples were characterized by x-ray diffraction on a Philips Electronics Model 2500 powder diffractometer. Sample types 0 and I were about the same and characteristic of the starting materials. Sample type II shows diffraction lines characteristic of YBa2Cu307-5 (123 compound) (30) and TBaCu05 (211 compound) (31) together with some unreacted CuO. Sample type III shows mainly lines of the 123 compound with a trace of 211 confound while In sample type IV the lines of the 211 compound are usually absent. [Pg.224]

Heat treated samples were investigated with X-ray diffraction (XRD) (Philips MRD. CuKa radiation and proportional detector, Almelo, The Netherlands). The X-ray diffiactograms were recorded between 10 and 100 20. The phase fractions were determined by fitting a Gaussian function to the three main XRD peaks of each phase present. The relative intensity ratio, Ix/It, where Ix is the sum of the intensity of the three main peaks of phase x and It is the total intensity, i.e. the sum of the intensity of the three main peaks of all the constituent phases, is then a measure of the phase fiaction of phase X. [Pg.5]
