Magic markers

Mark the position of a well isolated colony of cells using a grease pencil or magic marker on the undersurface of the dish. [Pg.119]

A polyethylene bottle [Fig. 11(1)] is a convenient wash bottle for acetone. The name, symbol, or formula of a solvent can be written on a bottle with a magic marker or wax pencil. For crystallizations, extractions, and quick cleaning of apparatus, it is convenient to have a bottle for each frequently used solvent—95% ethanol, ligroin, dichloromethane, and diethyl ether. A pinhole opposite the spout, which is covered with the finger in use, will prevent the spout from dribbling the solvent. [Pg.7]

There are many other art materials that contain potentially hazardous substances. For example magic markers often contain volatile organic compounds glues and adhesives can contain solvents such as toluene, methyl ethyl ketone, acetone, and hexane and instant papier-mache and some modeling compounds may contain asbestos. In addition, many products pose an inhalation hazard due to the fine powders they are composed of, or the dusts they... [Pg.177]

G. While area surveys are generally considered as passive surveys, i.e., actions taken based on survey results may be deferred for hours or days, personnel surveys are active, in that actions taken to remove contaminated materials from body surfaces are usually taken immediately. Because they are active surveys, the locations of the contamination on body surfaces are not usually plotted, as is the case in area surveys. Instead, contaminated areas are identified with tapes, dyes, magic markers, etc., on the body surface itself. [Pg.94]

Place a small piece of label tape at the top of each test tube and number them 1 to 20. Fill one test tube with 1.0 mL of mobile phase and mark its level with a grease pencil or magic marker. Then fill it to 5.0 mL and mark it. Mark each test tube based on this. [Pg.552]

Prepare squares of aluminum foil 5-10 cm length/width. Using a permanent marking pen (Magic Marker is fine), label these squares with a number or something that identifies the sample with the subject. You may also need to identify the location from where the particular sample is removed if receiving multiple tissue samples from the same subject. Place the label on the foil square... [Pg.207]

Within the cryostat, the room temperature bead substrate is positioned onto the tissue section and briefly pressed using an index finger or an artist s brush handle. This ensures transfer of the tissue from the cryostat surface onto the substrate surface. Using a magic marker, the orientation and perimeter of the tissue section within the bead substrate are marked on the back of the Parafilm M substrate. [Pg.471]

The sample is stretched by hand and attached to the ITO-coated slide (Fig. 27.1b-e), and the excess Parafilm M is manually torn off of the sides of the slide (see Note 4). To ease the subsequent process of image reconstruction, the sample should be stretched with the maximum directional uniformity possible. The magic marker label along the perimeter (described above) helps when visually inspecting the sample to ensure it retains gross shape after the stretching process (see Fig. 27.If). [Pg.472]

The Input Modules on the mixer are where the various instruments and microphones are plugged in. They correspond to ACID tracks, each of which also has a part of the total mix in the form of a media file or loop. Along the top of each Input Module you may find a piece of masking tape with the name of the input. Of course, ACID tracks can easily he renamed without a magic marker. [Pg.121]

As explained earlier the peak of the curve is a failure point [9]. The mode of failure appears like a slippage at the interface between the rotor of the rheometer and the rubber specimen, when it is marked with a magic marker . Because the surfaces of cavity and rotor are serrated, some fracture must have occurred even though the overall behaviour appears to be a slippage. Once the failure occurs, the remaining strain is an unknown quantity. Therefore, the scientific meaning of the relaxation curve becomes obscure. [Pg.371]

The design of such cytotoxic antibodies is conceptually simple attach a toxic substance or a mediator of toxicity to the appropriate monoclonal and you have a magic bullet that can find and eliminate the one-in-a-billion cells that have the requisite marker (Figure 21.1). The antibody provides the recognition and binding capacity, while the associated toxic component effects cellular alterations leading to cell death (Pastan et al., 2006). [Pg.824]
