Coupled Formulation for Load Update of Single Lap Joints... [Pg.607]

One distinctive and challenging feature of a single lap joint is its eccentric load path, which leads to the geometric nonlinearity that requires the load update. Goland and Reissner (1944)... [Pg.607]

Hart-Smith (1973) showed that the uncoupled formulation of Goland and Reissner (1944) is inconsistent with the force conditions of an individual adherend at the overlap ends. To overcome this deficiency and consider the influence of the adhesive deformation, Hart-Smith (1973) modeled each adherend of the overlap as an individual beam and derived the coupled formulation for load update and the adhesive shear stress. By using continuity conditions at intersection I, Hart-Smith (1973) obtained the edge moment factor and then simplified it as ... [Pg.608]

Analytical approaches for adhesively bonded structures are presented in this chapter. Stress analysis for adhesively bonded joints is conducted using the classical adhesive-beam model and the other adhesive-beam models. Closed-form solutions of symmetric joints are presented and analytical procedures of asymmetric and unbalanced joints are discussed. Load update for single lap joints is investigated in detail. Numerical results calculated using the classical and other formulations are illustrated and compared. It is shown that the nonlinear adhesive-beam model based on the Timoshenko beam theory provides enhanced results compared to the linear adhesive-beam model based on the Euler beam theory for adhesively bonded composite structures. Analytical solutions of energy release rates for cohesive failure and delamination are presented, and several failure criteria are reviewed and discussed. [Pg.625]

Figure 9-21F is the most current updated version of the GPDC as presented by Strigle [139] to facilitate interpolation of the ordinate and pressure drop curves on the chart. The flooding and loading regions are not identified. For this chart ... [Pg.282]

MCBase offers the possibility to load the original CAMPUS data of different suppliers from version 3.0 and higher into one database, which allows direct comparison. It has been developed in close cooperation with the CAMPUS consortium. For more information see http //www.m-base.de/. MCBase is user friendly and offers extremely efficient handling of material data. All CAMPUS options are available define search profiles define and sort tables print tables and data sheets curve overlay scatter plots. In addition MCBase 4.1 offers search in curves search for comparable grades text search update via Internet calculation of simulation parameters. A French version of MCBase is available from the distribution agent in France. [Pg.595]

Usability of CLL. There are plenty of practical guidelines on calculating critical loads and levels including the constantly updated Manual on Methodologies and Criteria for Modeling and Mapping Critical Loads Levels and Air Pollution Effects,... [Pg.16]

As can be seen from the Global Reactive Chemicals Standard, all existing chemical processes will have a Reactive Chemicals/Process Hazard Analysis review on a predefined periodic basis. In addition, every new plant Production Leader should review their process with the Reactive Chemicals Committee within 90 days of assuming responsibility for a pilot or production plant. Prior to the review, the Leader should acquire training on the chemistry and processes that they are working with. This should include an evaluation of raw materials, processes, products and waste to understand any potential reactive chemical hazards. They should review and be prepared to answer questions from the completed and updated RC/PHA protocol questionnaire as well as other relevant materials in their plant Process Safety Folder, such as F EI, CEI, etc. The review should cover all auxiliary operations to the process such as raw material and product storage drum, tank car and truck loading. [Pg.227]

The first report on loadings of contaminants including PAHs to all five Great Lakes from IADN was published in 1996 [124], and updated with two additional years of data for three of the lakes in 1998 [123]. In the 1996 paper Hoff et al. [124] reported estimates of wet and dry deposition for phenan-threne, pyrene, benzo[/c]fluoranlhene andbenzo[a]pyrene seasonally and annually for each of the five Great Lakes and net gas exchange for Lakes Superior and Ontario for 1991-1992 and 1994. The authors concluded for Lakes Supe-... [Pg.328]

The enrichment process (update hosts) attempt among other things to complete the key information associated with a host in the database. If a host is identified by an IP address, then a reverse DNS lookup is attempted to obtain the host name. If a host is identified by a host name, a DNS lookup is also attempted. Both operations are costly and would result in undue delays upon insertion of a new host, hence the choice of off-loading the loader and pushing such task to a background process. [Pg.359]

Full-Text Index for the Submission. You should provide an index of the full text and the Document Information fields of all items in the submission. The index is generated in PDF by using Acrobat Catalog. Name the index definition file indindex.pdx. You should place all associated index hies in a folder named indindex. Place the indindex.pdx definition hie and the indindex folder in the IND main folder. Associate the XXXX indtoc.pdf Ie with the index hie so that, whenever the TOC hie is opened, the associated index is automatically added to the available index list. This will facilitate the use of the search function in Adobe Acrobat. The function enables a reviewer to enter a specihc word and search the document for that word s location throughout the documents covered by the indices loaded at the time. The indindex folder and hie do not have numerical prehxes because they are intended to be cumulative. Index information should be updated each time an amendment is submitted to the IND. [Pg.109]
