Linear bearings

Linear bearing surfaces made or flnorinated hydrocarbons or of graphite and also rollers are used for this purpose. [Pg.1004]

A solenoid valve is shown in Figure 2.18. The eoil has an eleetrieal resistanee of 4ff, an induetanee of 0.6 H and produees an eleetromagnetie foree F it) of times the eurrent i t). The valve has a mass of 0.125 kg and the linear bearings produee a resistive foree of C times the veloeity u t). The values of and C are 0.4 N/A and 0.25 Ns/m respeetively. Develop the differential equations relating the voltage v t) and eurrent i t) for the eleetrieal eireuit, and also for the eurrent i t) and veloeity u t) for the meehanieal elements. Henee deduee the overall differential equation relating the input voltage v t) to the output veloeity u t). [Pg.31]

There are many kinds of loss-lubrication systems. Most types of linear bearings are necessarily lubricated by this means. An increasingly popular method of lubrication is by automatic or manually operated one-shot lubricators. With these devices, a metered quantity of oil or grease is delivered to any number of points from a single reservoir. The operation may be carried out manually, using a hand-pump, or automatically, by means of an electric or hydraulic pump. Mechanical pumps are usually controlled by an electric timer, feeding lubricant at preset intervals, or are linked to a constantly moving part of the machine. [Pg.867]

Peel tests were conducted on universal testing machines at 23°C at a test speed of 10 mm/min. In the fixed arm peel test there was a requirement that the peel fixture was attached to the test machine through a fnction-free linear bearing system. This enabled the direction of force on the peel arm to remain vertical whilst the peel fracture was propagating. A number of peel angles were used in the fixed arm test, but all laboratories included a configuration where the peel angle was 90°. [Pg.343]

The polymer pin (A) was clamped into a special specimen holder (B), which in turn was attached to a shaft (C) supported in a linear bearing (D). With the special specimen holder (B), it was possible to impose a rotation of the pin around its load axis, independent from rotation of a disc, as well as to change the radius of the wear path prescribed by the pin on the counterface (J). [Pg.304]

For constracting mobile mechanical devices, molecular surfaces need to be engineering. The controlled and reversible telescopic extension of multiwaU nanotubes was demonstrated, realizing ultralow-friction nanoscale linear bearings and constant-force nanosprings. Measurements performed in situ on individual custom-engineered nanotubes inside a high-... [Pg.36]

Bearings allow relative rotational and translational motion between two machine parts. Apart from transmitting radial and axial forces (in rotary bearings) and forces and moments transverse to the direction of motion (in linear bearings), they define the relative positions of the machine elements supported by the bearings. [Pg.81]
