Limiting charge

In Part 2 of their paper, Hohenberg and Kohn go on to investigate the form of the functional F[P(r)] in the special cases of certain limiting charge densities. They find that F[P(r)] can be expressed in terms of the correlation energy and electric polarizabilities. 

Use can be made of this latter effect. The power element can be limit charged so that all the refrigerant within it has vaporized by a predetermined temperature (commonly 0°C). Above this point, the pressure within it will follow the gas laws ...

Monachit. A Ger blasting expl also known as Vigorit. Monachit I cont AN 81, trinitroxylene (TNX) 13, K nitrate 5, and flour 1%. Monachit II cont AN 64, TNX 12, K nitrate plus Na nitrate 3, K chloride 19, charcoal 1, collodion cotton 1%. Monachit II has a limit charge of more than 500g. Its vel of deton at d 1.20 g/cc is about 4800m/sec, while at d 1.56g/cc it falls to I780m/sec... 

Negro Powder No 2. Favier type permissible expl containing AN 57.0, TNT 15.0, Na chloride 27.5 graphite 0.5%. Limit charge is 24 oz, and power by BalPend is 2.86"... 

Neonals. Brit permissible expls No 1 K perchlorate 14, NG 40, collodion cotton 2, wood-meal 4.5, Amm oxalate 39.5 w 0.5% power by BalPend 2.51", limit charge 30 oz No 2 ... 

If we apply our rule (about limiting charge separation to no more than two charges), then we might say that the second resonance structure above has too many charges... 

Activated carbons possess sufficient volumetric conductivity for electrolyte/collector current interchange. However, contact resistance between carbon particles in the electrode limits charge/discharge currents of the porous volumetric system and therefore EC s power capability. 

The EP limits charged variants of somatropin, e.g., deamidated forms, hy a CZE method that is characterized hy an ammonium phosphate buffer at pH 6.0 as an electrolyte, an uncoated fused silica capillary, and a UV detection at 200 nm (see Eigure 4 for robustness see reference 43). 

If we imagine the nuclei to be forced together to = 0, the wave function Is A + Iss will approach, as a limit, a charge distribution around the united atom that has neither radial nor angular nodal planes. This limiting charge distribution has the same symmetry as the Is orbital on the united atom, Helium. On the other hand, the combination Isa Iss has a nodal plane perpendicular to the molecular axis at all intemuclear separations. Hence its limit in the united atom has the symmetry properties of a 2p orbital. A simple correlation diagram for this case is ... 

For any given chromatographic system, there is a limiting charge that can be placed on a column before the resolution is impaired. Loss of resolution from column overload can arise from two causes, either excessive sample feed volume or excessive sample mass. The theory of moderate sample volume overload has already been considered in the applications of the Plate Theory. The theory of excessive sample volume overload will now be discussed.

The sites of formation of hot spots may be provided in both liquid and solid expls not only by bubbles of gas but also by bubbles of vapor, if the expl is more or less volatile. The importance of some heterogeneous initiation mechanism is shown by the failure of deton to propagate, in at least some expls, when the density of material exceeds a certain value [See under "Detonation (and Explosion), Resistance to ]. Price noted that in other expls, however, the homogeneous process plays the major part in the transmission, if not the initiation, of detonation (Ref 34)...

Britonites. Brit coal-mine expls manufd after WWI by the British Explosives Syndicate,Ltd,Pitsea. They used to be on Permitted List, but have now been repealed. The original compn contained NG 26, K nitrate 32.7, woodmeal 41 Na carbonate 0.3%. Later compns were No2, which contained NG 24, K nitrate 30, woodmeal 38 Amm oxalate (cooling agent) 8% and No3, which contained NG 24.5, Na Nitrate 28, woodmeal 35-5 NaCl 12%. Power(swing of ballistic pendulum) was 2.26" for No 2 and 2.17" for No 3, vs 3-2/ for std Gelignite. Limit charge for both No 2 No 3 was 24oz...
