Limit, short term process

Recycling of nutrients further complicates the nature of limitation. Short term depletion of soil nutrient concentration by vegetation can eventually feed back, through litter production and mineralization processes. [Pg.230]

As shown in Figure 11.1, any production framework actually defines a production process push-pull boundary across the order fulfillment cycle. On the left of the boundary, we have the production resources made available by the push-based planning processes. Customer orders arise, on the right of the boundary, to compete for these limited short-term production resources. The ATP system executes at the interface of the push-driven flow and pull-based flow systems. It plays a critical role in making best use of available resources, including raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, and even production and distribution capacities, to commit customers order requests over a period of time across a supply chain. By doing so, it coordinates activities across the push-pull boundary of a supply chain. [Pg.449]

Each of these has its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, detailed investigation of relatively short-term processes under simulated in situ conditions can be achieved by laboratory experiments, but overall reaction time is limited by the length of the study, which is seldom more than a few years. Observation of processes operating over much longer timescales... [Pg.121]

Equipment—client may not have the equipment required to manufacture a specific product. It may be that available capital and installation time are limited such that they simply can not design, acquire, install and test the process equipment to reach the desired capacity within the available budget and time. If a product is in the early stages of its life cycle, the capital required may be hard to justify. This could be based upon the low initial volume anticipated while developing the market or the need to take advantage of a time-sensitive business opportunity. Tolling can provide a means to safely produce introductoiy, short-term, or small volume products that would otherwise be uneconomic. [Pg.6]

This knowledge is also important in order to determine if air tests conducted by OSHA compliance officers are valid. For example, if threshold limit value in the health standard is an 8-hour time-weighted average, the air sample should be obtained by sampling over the entire shift in the employee s breathing zone. It cannot be measured by a few short term samples, even if spaced over the full shift unless the worker is in a relatively fixed location with no variation in his work procedure or in the process. Such an event is generally the exception rather than the rule. [Pg.261]

Plans exist to test other materials to examine further potential on other non-packaging feed supplies. This might extend the limits of this specification. It is said that the process would tolerate short-term excursions of higher chlorine content, e.g., 5% wt Cl. [Pg.7]

Upon completion of the demonstration, the data are reviewed to determine the final permitted limit. This rigorous data analysis typically bases the final permitted limits on the 95th percentile for the long-term and 99th percentile for the short-term from the demonstration period data. This process is illustrated in Figure 14.7. [Pg.263]

Evident shortcomings of the process were that the number of shortterm irradiations per week was apparently limited by the available analyzer counting time and the manpower needed for data reduction. These two parts of the scheme were studied to improve efficiency by increasing the number of short-term irradiations and counting in an 8-hr shift as well as significantly reducing the man-hours for data reduction. [Pg.109]
