Miscellaneous. The reaction products of sahcylaldehyde with certain compounds containing active methylene groups, eg, acetylacetone, are excellent uv absorbers. Films containing these compounds can be used as uv filters to protect light-sensitive foods, wood products, paper, dyes, fibers, and plastics (95). 

Compared to photographic films, BR is handicapped due to its very low light sensitivity. Also, as a possible material for disk-shaped digital optical information storage, BR does not offer an advantage over estabUshed magnetooptical materials ia spite of its higher line resolutioa, because ia both cases... 

The silver perchlorate [7783-93-9] salt, AgClO, is dehquescent and forms a light-sensitive monohydrate that can be dehydrated at 43°C and is soluble in a variety of organic solvents. Explosions of silver perchlorate have been reported (40—42). Gold forms organic perchlorate [42774-61-8] complexes as well as complexes with silver, eg, (CgH )2AgAu(CgF )2C104. 

The initiation of development in the activator solution is more rapid than in conventional processes because the developer molecules need not diffuse into the light-sensitive layers from the processing solution. In spite of the low activity of the coated developer, some unintentional reduction sensitization may occur, which produces unwanted fog. Therefore, coating the developer in a separate layer usually is preferred. Because of simplicity, rapid access, and solution stabihty, incorporated developer papers have been used for office copying appHcations. 

Phthalocyanines have been used to incorporate semiconductor properties in polymers (182) or to develop a thin-film transistor (183). Phthalocyanines and their derivatives can act as dyes in color photography (qv) (184) or electrophotography (185).
