Reaction of 2-pyrazoloneselenazoles with p-nitrosodialkylanilines leads to a series of azomethinep>Tazolones (Scheme 47) used as purple magenta dyes in color photography (34). The main regions of absorption are ... [Pg.252]

Hydroxy-2-Naphthalenecarboxylic Acid. l-Hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid is made similarly to the isomer (2-hydroxy-1-naphthoic acid) by reaction of dry sodium 1-naphthalenolate with CO2 in an autoclave at ca 125°C. It has been used in making triphenylmethane dyes and metalli able a2o dyes. Alkylamides and arylamides of l-hydroxy-2-naphthalenecarboxyhc acid are cyan couplers, ie, components used in indoaniline dye formation in color films (see Color PHOTOGRAPHY). [Pg.505]

Phthalocyanines have been used to incorporate semiconductor properties in polymers (182) or to develop a thin-film transistor (183). Phthalocyanines and their derivatives can act as dyes in color photography (qv) (184) or electrophotography (185). Light-sensitive compositions for use on Hthographic plates are comprised in part of copper phthalocyanine blue (186). Dichlorosilicon phthalocyanine [19333-10-9] has been used in the... [Pg.506]

ColorFilm. Most color photographic images reproduced on press are made from positive color transparencies known as sHdes. Transparencies are preferred over color prints for reproduction because of superior sharpness, tonal contrast, and color saturation (see Color photography). [Pg.32]

In addition to a continued increase in the number of use patents in these fields, a new use of xanthates as inhibitors of fertiliser nitrogen transformation in soil has been reported, as well as the use of certain metal xanthates as color developers for image-recording materials (113,114) (see Fertilizers Color photography). For several years, sodium isopropyl xanthate was used as an intermediate in the manufacture of saccharin (see... [Pg.367]

Benzyl alcohol, [100-51 -6] C H CH20H (bp, 205.4°C at 101.3 kPa), produced by the hydrogenation of benzaldehyde is used in color photography as a parenteral solution preservative as a general solvent and as an intermediate in the manufacture of various benzoate esters for the soap, perfume, and flavor industries (see Benzyl alcohol and P-phenethyl alcohol). [Pg.35]

The first instant color photography system, introduced by the Polaroid Corp. in 1963 as Polacolor, used the transfer of subtractive dyes to a receiver sheet to produce a positive image. The incorporated dye-developers, containing a hydroquinone moiety, are soluble in the alkaline activator solution, except where silver development occurs, when they are immobilized as the quinone form. [Pg.470]
