You need to collect as much information as possible that will help to provide guidance on how to accomplish specific safety-related activities. At this point you do not have to define each job s specific safety tasks in detail. All you need is a brief summary of the expectations that can be agreed upon with leadership. The job description worksheet starts to become a living document that must be regularly reviewed and modified as necessary to keep up with activities that may change in time as to what needs to be accomplished. Safety professionals and those individuals tasked with administrating the safety system are at the core of the organization. They become the go to person for many problems and issues beyond safety related issues. They are the ones that must interpret and explain hazards and associated risk to both the leadership team and employees. They must manage multiple specific programs and ensure that those programs are readily understood and fit into the overall organization. [Pg.410]

The premise is that the JHA when considered the centerpiece for a safety system provides the critical linkage between all aspeas of a Safety Management System. The view of the JHA as the linkage is used to provide essential information for the leadership team and employees about the scope and severity of hazards and risk exposure. With this information, the leadership team can then better weigh the impact of changes in job related tasks and select more informed decisions as loss-producing consequences are made visible. [Pg.481]
