Language service

The speech and language service has good expertise but some staff are currently on leave and there has been no replacement. Physiotherapist support is good. Occupational therapists are unavailable. If the school could get staff skills to a higher level, then external therapists could diagnose students problems and suggest the kind of support needed and staff could provide it. The school is working to develop such skills in-house, but it takes time.

Searching of one or more on-line databases is a technique increasingly used ia novelty studies. The use of such databases enables the searcher to combine indexing parameters, including national and international classifications natural language words ia the full text of patents, ia their claims, or ia abstracts suppHed by iaventor and by professional documentation services and indexing systems of various sorts. Because the various patent databases have strengths and weaknesses that complement each other, the use of multiple databases is thus pmdent, and is faciUtated by multifile and cross-file techniques provided by the various on-line hosts.

Operation and Service Manuais. To be of real value to the mechanic, an operation and service manual must be indexed to permit quick location of needed information. The manual must be written in simple, straightforward language, have illustrations, sketches, or exploded views adjacent to pertinent text, and have minimum references to another page or section. Major sections or chapters should be tabbed for quick location. 

Iowa Drug Information Service. A bibliographical database with access to full text, IDIS [98] provides access to the therapeutic and clinical pharmaceutic English language journal literature from 17 countries. FDA Summary Basis of Approval documents are indexed and available in full text. Updated monthly, the database contains over 450,000 records from 1966 forward with bibliographic citation, keyword indexes, and, for over 60% of citations, the author s abstract. IDIS is commercially available in microfiche, compact disc, and web formats and via DataStar, DIALOG. 

For components to be plug-replaceable, it is essential that the component specs be self-contained and symmetrical it is the only way to be able to design reliably using parts without knowledge of their implementations.
