A. N. Terenin, Photochemistry of Dyes and Related Organic Compounds, Transl. by Kresge-Hooker Science Library, Academy of Sciences Press, Moscow, 1947, ch. 7. [Pg.116]

The history of the Kresge-Hooker Science Library at Wayne State University is briefly reviewed. Some outstanding items of the periodical collection are enumerated, as well as some collectors items of interest to historians of chemistry. Current subscriptions to scientific periodicals include numerous titles which are not found widely in other libraries in this country. An abbreviated list of such periodicals has been compiled. Close proximity of the Detroit Public Library to the Kresge-Hooker Science Library on Wayne s campus, located in the heart of the city, provides excellent science library facilities for the students of that large urban university, the chemical and engineering industries, and the citizenry of Detroit alike. [Pg.288]

The Kresge-Hooker Science Library is the result of and a monument to cooperative effort. The present book and periodical collection was formed in 1944 as a merger of two sizable libraries, the Wayne State University science collection and the Samuel C. Hooker science library of over 21,000 volumes. The latter was brought to Detroit in that year from Central College, Fayette, Mo., to which... [Pg.288]

The Hooker science collection, as acquired by Wayne State University in 1944, augmented and complemented Wayne s science collection exceptionally well. Wayne s science holdings were notably weak in the older literature, in which the Hooker collection was exceptionally strong. The combined collections are now known as the Kresge-Hooker Science Library. This combined collection is also much stronger now in science fields other than chemistry than was the original Hooker collection. [Pg.289]

A complete list of all volumes of periodicals and journals owned by the Kresge Library was published in sections in the Record of Chemical Progress during the years 1954-56. A limited number of reprints are available and may be obtained free by writing to the author in care of the Kresge-Hooker Science Library, Wayne State University, Detroit 2, Mich. [Pg.292]
